Jeff Lipscomb, an investment and financial consultant for Equitable, has earned the title of investment advisory associate, conferred by E.Q. Financial Inc. Carol K. Kao, an attorney with Luce, Forward, Hamilton & Scripps LLP, has been elected to the Make-A-Wish Foundation of San Diego board. Kao specializes in estate planning and tax exempt charitable organizations. She will use her expertise to assist in planned giving efforts. Kristi J. Christine Cochrum has joined Scribe Communications as receptionist and public relations coordinator. Steve Hall has been named CEO of Harbor View Medical Center, an OrNda Healthcorp-owned hospital. Hall recently returned to San Diego from Northern California. He has worked with Columbia/HCA Healthcare in Sonoma County; EPIC Healthcare Group as executive director of Mission Bay and Clairemont hospitals; and at Valley Medical, now Scripps East, in El Cajon. Elizabeth Wheeler has joined CB Commercial as office specialist assisting with multi-market corporate service representation for national accounts and a local portfolio concentrated in the Golden Triangle. Prior to joining CB Commercial, Wheeler worked at Oakwood Corporate Housing. Mike Rivera has been promoted to project manager at Competitive Edge Research & Communication, a Mission Valley-based polling firm. Bilbro & Giffin has completed construction management for the central HVAC plant at the San Diego International Airport at Lindbergh Field. The construction project is valued at $5.9 million, reports Bill Bowdle, assistant project manager. The HVAC plant is one of 30 individual construction projects involved in the $165 million airport improvement program, and includes mechanical equipment with 3,200-ton chilled water capacity that will provide heating and cooling to the existing East and West Terminals and the new eight-gate Concourse F. Cary L. Klippert was voted by the county's Municipal and Superior Court judges as the new county marshal. As the Judicial Protection District Commander in the Los Angeles Sheriff's Dept., Klippert received an exemplary service award for his performance as security supervisor throughout the O.J. Simpson trial. In San Diego, he will be the first marshal to serve on the Court Coordination Oversight Committee, which directs the progressive sharing of Municipal and Superior Court judges, staff, and resources in the movement toward full coordination of trial court services. The law firm Procopio, Cory, Hargreaves & Savitch LLP has appointed attorney Eric Shwisberg to its six-person management committee. Shwisberg will take an active role in the overall management of the firm's services and in the development of the firm's long-range business and strategic plans. Scott Hermes, CMP, director of sales and marketing for the Hyatt Regency San Diego, was named the winner of the 1995 Donald N. Pritzker Award during the Hyatt Hotels Corp.'s sales and marketing awards presentation. Named after the late first president of Hyatt, the award is the company’s most prestigious in the sales category, presented for outstanding leadership, loyalty and overall contributions to Hyatt. Hermes' career with Hyatt began in 1985. Ellen Ernst has been named manager of Western Business Centers' new Mission Valley location. Western Business Centers, an executive suite operator, occupies the 8th floor of Rio Vista Tower, 8880 Rio San Diego Drive. Ernst will oversee the entire operation of the Business Center including leasing, staff management and customer service. Patricia A. "Trish" Butler has been appointed to the San Diego Planning Commission. Butler is president and majority owner of the Butler Roach Group Inc., which provides environmental and land use planning. Colton Sudberry has been promoted to associate with CB Commercial. His responsibilities include assisting with retail leasing, investment sales, project development and tenant representation. Sudberry joined CB Commercial in September 1995. Leticia Olivarez Cadena, Michael G. Ramsey, Allan R. Gutkin and Michael A.M. Lauffer have joined the law firm Luce, Forward, Hamilton & Scripps LLP as associates. Breaux Castleman has been named to the newly created position of president and chief operating officer for Scripps Clinic, an independent medical group of 300 physicians. Prior to joining Scripps Clinic, Castleman was president of the Physician Resources Division of Caremark International Inc. in Chicago. Tenant improvement plans have been completed and construction begun for the law firm of Hinchy, Witte, Wood, Anderson & Hodges on the 15th floor of the 525 B St. tower. The firm has signed a long-term lease valued at $2.5 million. Tenant improvements have been designed by Roi Jossy of Howard Sneed Interior Architecture. Roel Construction is doing the tenant improvements. RCG Management has hired Laura D'Agrosa and Clara Leonida as senior client service executives, financial management services. D'Agrosa previously was controller and director of finance for Andataco. Leonida most recently was director of medical economics for FHP Inc. The Gable Group has added Michael Lyons, account executive, and Karen Segal, account coordinator, to its cause marketing/promotions division. Rob Volmer, assistant account executive, has joined the social marketing division.
