    Well Engineered

I just had the pleasure of reading your article on John Fowler in the April edition. It certainly echoes the experience I have had working with him for the last three years on the NTC reuse planning process. John is a genuine citizen in every sense of the word, and his commitment to the best for San Diego is a blessing to all of us who live here. Thanks for enlightening others about this special San Diegan.

Congratulations! Metropolitan Magazine is a great asset to San Diego County business communities.
It was with great interest that I read the articles on Patti Roscoe and John Fowler in the April edition. Also, it is good to know Patti is a fellow cat owner, but I must take my hat off to her for having seven cats. I have trouble enough keeping plants in the house with only one cat.
Alan Jones' article on planning also was of interest. You are to be commended for publishing an excellent news magazine. Keep up the good work and save those boxing gloves. I may need them.

Thank you for the generous article in the April edition of Metropolitan Magazine. I have received a number of very positive comments as a result of the article, which suggests to me that your magazine is both well read and growing in circulation.
I wish you and your magazine every success.

    Food For Thought

Just wanted to congratulate you on the consistently fantastic new layout. It’s nice to turn the pages and find more than coupons and fluff.
I especially like the voice in Terryl Gavre's restaurant reviews. She is friendly and fair, doesn’t write exclusively about price and portion or about the history of the dish. She writes about the whole package or overall experience, typically sounding like a well-traveled, excited girlfriend, in-stead of a bitchy, snobby-toned critic. Will we be seeing more of her?

Editor's Note: By all means.

Just a note to tell you how much I enjoy reading the new and improved Metropolitan Magazine. I always pick up a copy of your publication when I’m Downtown, and it’s been a pleasure to see the changes. The glossy cover is first-class.
I especially look forward to reading the restaurant reviews each month as I am always looking for a new place to try. I really like the reviews written by Terryl Gavre: They are both informative and entertaining. I feel like she is talking directly to me, the reader, like I am her friend or co-worker (although she is a bit crazy).
Continue the good work. I expect by this time next year you will be available by subscription only, and I’ll gladly sign up for one.

    Check Enclosed

Well, I see you've moved up in the World, literally! I’ve always loved the old HBJ building and I think you picked a great site.
Enclosed is my check for $20 for one year’s subscription to the Met. I’ve let my Transcript subscription expire be-cause I miss its former flavor and staff, who all seem to have followed you.
Also heard your "Business Report" this morning on XBACH - sounded good. Keep up the good work.

    Lower Prices

The San Diego Scene item in your April issue about Whole Foods Market opening in Hillcrest had a minor error. The store is across the street from the old Boney's store on University Avenue, where the Aladray ANA store sat. There is still a Boney's store in the Hillcrest area. It is now located on Park Boulevard. I’m happy about the new Whole Foods Market opening in our neighborhood and plan to shop there. However, Boney's has served our community well and has many things that Whole Foods does not, including low prices.
