Most Handsome

Glad you finally recognized Sal Giametta of ConVis as the best lookin' one of the bunch. I agree. I’m a neighbor of Sal's, and I can attest that whether he's at Ralph's squeezing produce or lounging around the Jacuzzi, he's a good-looking guy. He's nice, too, and ConVis is lucky to have him.

Biotech Fan

I enjoyed Neil Murray's article entitled "Jobs in Biotech." It is nice to see your magazine focus articles on this field. I was also pleased that a new column, "BioMed Matters," was recently added. It is about time that a San Diego publication focus on one of the hottest industries, especially because San Diego is one of the leading centers in biotechnology. I look forward to more articles about biotechnology.

Astute Reader

Congratulations on your stamina and your tenacity! And, more congratulations on your letter-perfect "remarks of the publisher" (September, 1997). I didn’t see one single grammatical, punctuation or typo error in the whole thing. Best to you and your colleagues (also John Davies) for the next 20.

I observed your publisher's page is sporting a new photo. I hope all your myriad accomplishments are not going to spoil our own little homegrown smartypants! I can’t makeup my mind whether you’re sneering at me or just thoughtfully digesting the events of the world or the business community.

Cyberspace Plugs

Thought you would be interested: I sent the article (Real Property by Gary H. London, Metropolitan Magazine, October 1997) by e-mail to 385 persons. Successfully went to about 320 or so. Got 50 responses so far. Should impact circulation and advertising. You are lucky to know me.

I had the pleasure of working with (Publisher Gary Shaw) at the Transcript. I worked in display sales from 1990 until the end of 1992, and tried to persuade you to hire me as a writer in 1994.

At present, I am taking a course in property development at UCSD from Gary London. He asked us to read his article from your October 1997 issue.

Wow! You simply have done a spectacular job with this magazine.

I hadn't read the Metropolitan in years. I had always considered it a pleasant little rag that was far more concerned with pleasing its advertisers than it was in making an impact. You clearly have changed that. You've made it vital and dynamic. You've made it a must-read.

I’m sure you have received plenty of accolades, but here's one more: Congratulations to you and your staff (particularly some of the pros like Tim McClain, Pam Wilson and Herb Lockwood, whom I remember from the Transcript) for the job you've all done.

Anyone can buy a magazine, but only a few can change its very identity for the better.

I worked with (Publisher Gary Shaw) along with Joe Applegate, and others at the Daily Transcript quite a few years ago.

I, too, have moved on to other things, but, when I saw your magazine in my company’s lunchroom recently, I had some good memories of life at the DT.

Your magazine is a real find. I am now hooked and am awaiting the next issue.
