Lynch

    Veteran banker Pat Bromley was named manager of Bank of America's Downtown San Diego main branch. A BofA v.p., he replaces Fred Baranowski, who became senior v.p. and manager of San Diego commercial operations for City National Bank in the Golden Triangle. Bromley, with the bank since 1969, has managed the La Jolla main branch since 1989.

    General Instrument Corp. named Thomas J. Lynch v.p., general manager of its San Diego-based satellite data network. Previously he was v.p. and general manager of the Transmission Network Systems unit of NextLevel's Broadband Networks Group. He is a 15-year company veteran.


Bromley

    Sprint PCS has added Scott Salter as director of marketing in the San Diego market for Southern California/Nevada. He formerly worked for AT&T Wireless Services.


Lee

    Eric A. Lee was named assistant v.p. and portfolio manager for Sefton Capital Management, a San Diego-based investment advisor and mutual fund manager. Lee will be responsible for managing client accounts and marketing. He previously served as assistant v.p. and investment analyst for ChoiceMaster Services at Wells Fargo Bank.

    Tom Perdue, with 20 years in banking, is v.p. and Downtown area manager of First National Bank. Also, Dick Petrie, with 25 years in corporate marketing and financial analysis, has joined the bank as senior v.p. and North County regional manager.

    Stoorza Design & Advertising added Camille Sobrian as v.p./general manager. She has 15 years of experience and formerly led the national advertising and marketing communications division for the Canadian operations of Transamerica Life Companies.

    LeRoy "Roy" Houtz, former CEO of the Rancho Bernardo Chamber, was named business services manager for San Diego National Bank. He spent 28 years with First Interstate Bank.

     Promoted to senior v.p. at Grossmont Bank was Renée Comeau, who has worked there since 1993. Lynda Buckner, an employee since 1984, was named v.p./compliance officer. She also is in charge of the centralized note department at the bank. Lynne Duke, who started at Grossmont in 1986, was promoted to v.p./bankcard manager.

    Harold Kvaas, president of Kvaas Construction Co. Inc., was elected 1998 treasurer of the Associated General Contractors of America, the nation's oldest and largest construction trade association.

    Steve Guy, a 16-year veteran of commercial development, was promoted to executive v.p. of the McMillin Commercial Group, which he joined in 1991. Judy Webster was named v.p. of personnel of McMillin Cos. She began with McMillin in 1985 as a relocation coordinator in the firm's resale division.


Comeau

    Golden Eagle Insurance Co. appointed two executives to oversee its marketing and underwriting operations. They are Robert E. Catalano, heading marketing with 30 years of insurance experience, and William L. Crain, executive v.p. and chief underwriting officer. He also has 30 years in the business.

    Appointed to regional v.p. of Imperial Bank's San Diego office was Dino J. D'Auria. He joined the bank last August as v.p. in the San Diego regional office. He was with Wells Fargo Bank before joining Imperial.

    Top producer for Grubb & Ellis' San Diego district for 1997 was Harry Stone, senior associate in the Investment Services Group. He was among the top 10 producers for the year before that. Before joining Grubb & Ellis, he managed Corporate Realty Group.


Covington

    Harley L. "Les" Abshire has joined Peninsula Bank as v.p./commercial loan officer. He was v.p./commercial lending officer with First National Bank. Also new to Peninsula Bank is Philippe Covington, v.p./senior loan officer of the Real Estate Services Dept., who moved from California Commerce Bank. Kedest Berhanu, a bank employee since 1990, was promoted to operations officer for Peninsula's La Jolla office.

    The USIU board elected three new members; Linda Baughman, president and CEO of University and State Employees Credit Union; Lynne Heidel, managing partner with the law firm of Stephenson Worley Garratt Schwartz Heidel & Prairie; and Luis Herrera-Lasso, consul general of Mexico in San Diego.

    Kitty Egger is the new manager for the Eastridge Group, an independent temporary and full-time staffing company. Before this appointment, she was branch manager of Exclusively Legal, a division of the Eastridge. Hank Morris Jr. has joined Eastridge Infotech as a senior recruiter.

    RE/MAX Associates real estate operation named Jon Kohl as president and COO. He replaces Geoff Mountain, who has been named chairman. Kohl joined the firm in 1996 when he left Century 21. Mountain has been in real estate since 1975. Frank Macri was named manager of the RE/MAX Mission Valley office. He has been a sales associate with the firm since 1991.

    Karen Quigley, Pacific Bell's director of presence marketing, was elected to the board of the Access Center of San Diego, a nonprofit agency that integrates disabled persons into employment and independent living.


Egger

    Richard Collato, YMCA of San Diego County president and CEO, was recognized nationally as the 1998 Outstanding International Leader by the YMCA of the USA. He was cited for his dedicated Hispanic outreach in the International YMCA movement, specifically in the Tijuana YMCA. For the past 16 years, he has chaired Hispanic Program Development for the YMCA of the USA.

    New to the law office of Allen Matkins Leck Gamble & Mallory is partner Ellen B. Spellman, real estate lawyer. Most recently she was a partner in the San Diego office of Brobeck Phleger & Harrison.

    Rick Vandervort joined the firm of Graham Downes Design & Architecture Inc. as a senior project architect. He was previously with Highland Partnership Inc. as construction manager and has practiced architecture in San Diego for more than a dozen years.

    First Virtual Holdings Inc. has named David Ehrenthal v.p. of sales and marketing. He formerly was marketing director for American Express Travel Related Services in Europe and strategic planning associate in New York.

    John Burnham & Oncor International expanded its development and construction services group with the appointment of Tom Sullivan as managing director and Albert deBerardinis as project manager. The two have worked together for the past 10 years and have moved from Sentre/CM, the construction management affiliate of Sentre Partners.

    John Sheppard was promoted to assistant county manager for South Coast Title. He has more than 28 years of residential real estate experience. Before joining South Coast Title, he was a division manager for the southern market center of Chicago Title Co.

    The San Diego Convention & Visitors Bureau has promoted Sandra Veum to senior national sales manager in the Convention Sales Dept. She started in 1996 at ConVis as a national sales manager.

    Patricia Rogers has formed Rogers Consulting Group to provide services for private developers and public and quasi-public agencies. For the past 10 years, she has been in real estate acquisition, housing development and construction management.

    Tom Dickey, who has spent 22 years in residential resales, joined Ryland ReSource Realty to head resales at Twin Oaks Valley Ranch and throughout the inland North County.

    Andrea Gilligan was named marketing manager for Pardee Homes. With the company since 1978, she formerly was the marketing coordinator.

    Roel Construction Co. Inc., an 81-year-old family-owned contracting business, has hired Steve Elliott as facilities manager. New accounting administrator for Roel Consulting Group, a division of the construction company, is Donna Smith. Also joining Roel is Terri Alcoser as payroll administrator. Previously with San Diego County Water Authority, she has five years of payroll experience.

    Heritage Security Services promoted Kenneth Moller to executive v.p. His previous title was v.p. of the Field Investigations Unit. He had a 33-year career with the San Diego Police Dept., retiring as a detective captain.

    Daniel E. Eaton joined Seltzer Caplan Wilkins & McMahon as a member of the firm's litigation department. He most recently practiced as a litigator in the labor and employment department of the Los Angeles office of New York-based Proskauer Rose. Before that he was with Gray Cary Ware & Freidenrich in San Diego.

    David M. Farrand was named a principal to the insurance firm of Barney & Barney. He has been with the company since 1985, most recently serving as executive v.p. of finance.
     The Newschool of Architecture announced that Rong-Tsuen Chen is a visiting professor for the Spring quarter. He was head of the Department of Architecture and Urban Planning at Chung-Hua University in Hsin Chu, Taiwan.

    Daniel Santistevan was promoted to senior v.p. of Colliers International, formerly Colliers Iliff Thorn, a commercial real estate company. He has been in commercial brokerage for 13 years.

    Marguerite "Peggy" S. Strand was named a partner the law firm of Best Best & Krieger. Her specialty is public agency representation, and many of the region's water districts are her clients. She joined the firm in 1995.

    Scott C. Kvandal joined Berryman & Henigar, a multi-disciplinary professional services consultant engineering company, as executive v.p. based in the San Diego headquarters. Kvandal formerly was with Pacific Basin Consultants.

    Theresa Mont'Ros-Mendoza was named v.p. for university advancement at SDSU. To accept this position, she leaves Arizona State University, where she was executive director of the ASU Foundation.

    UCSD Extension has named Maris Elizabeth Dursin as office manager of the Human Resources Dept. She formerly worked as an equal opportunities officer for the West Midlands, England, Police Dept.

    NDC Voice Corp., developer of wireless voice services, appointed Kathleen Layton as president and CEO. She formerly was with Ameritech Corp.'s consumer services division, the residential telecommunications arm of the Regional Bell Co.

    New to David Evans and Associates Inc. is Tom Wiedemann, a project engineer who is involved with the design of the Pointe Resort, a residential development of 1,000 single-family home sites, and Mission City, a Mission Valley residential mixed-use development.

    Karen Gomez joined International Information Centers as director specializing in advertising, marketing and public relations. Most recently she was director of sales for the San Diego Visitor Information Center at Mission Bay.
     Lynn C. Curry has joined the San Diego-based attorney recruitment firm of Shelton Wiseman & Leon. Curry already is working with the hi-tech firm of Merchant & Gould.

    Oran M. Thomas and Rand R. Schulman have formed KeyLime Software Inc. to develop decision-support software for computing designed to help companies make software purchases.

    FPA Medical Management Inc. appointed Douglas E. Kerner to v.p., treasurer. He previously served in financial areas of Total Petroleum.

    Robyn Scherer, marketing coordinator for Grice Lund & Tarkington CPAs, was elected vice chair of the International Marketing Conference, sponsored by Accounting Firms Associated Inc. The meeting will be in June in Kansas City, Mo.

    New Way Professional Landscape Services has added Sally Hayes to its staff. She moves from a five-year stint in property management.

    Two new Cox Communications employees are Marc Wallace, switch operations manager, and Grace Polley, facilities and process engineering manager. Wallace formerly was technical service manager at Express Tel, a long distance carrier. Polley's experience includes 18 years in the hospitality industry.

    UDC Homes has promoted Rick Schroeder to director of land acquisition after two years with the firm. Bob Fontana, with more than 40 years of general engineering experience, is the new director of land development. And Martin Brumfield was named director of purchasing.

    Pacific Bay Homes has named David D. Warren project manager for Rolling Hills Ranch, a master-planned community in Chula Vista. He formerly was project manager for D.C. Ranch, a master-planned community in Scottsdale, Ariz.

    Richard Howell was promoted to housing program manager of the Credit Counselors of California, an organization that provides free credit and debt counseling, education and debt repayment plans. He has eight years of experience in title insurance and appraisal and seven years as a financial counselor.
    Pountney & Associates Inc., consulting civil engineers and land surveyors, has added Fernando Castillo to the accounting department. He was previously with Daiwa Securities Bank of Zurich.

    Promoted to controller for Nassmith Pharmaceuticals Inc. was Cindy Nichols. Also, Vickey Ruiz was appointed purchasing agent for the Oceanside manufacturer of nutritional supplements and over-the-counter products.

    Bernard Kulchin, a human resources consultant and former v.p. of human services for General Dynamics, was named board chairman of the Support Center/Executive Service Corps.
    Barbara Schnelker of Palomar College is one of four community college faculty members to receive the 1998 Hayward Award for Excellence in Education.

    Gov. Wilson appointed Melissa Johnson as the new executive director of the California Governor's Council on Physical Fitness and Sports. She succeeds John Cates, founding executive director of the council, which was formed in 1993. Council headquarters are on the UCSD campus.

    San Diego attorney and State Bar of California President Marc Adelman is honorary chair for the third annual Lawyers Have Heart 5K Run and Walk scheduled June 18.

    Joining the staff at Concepts Meeting & Trade Show Management Inc. is David Brown, new customer operations director. Before taking this position, he was director of marketing technologies for Enova Technologies & Energy Pacific.
