Singing With Your Supper

What do a probation officer, an artist and a singer have in common? After working their day jobs, Aldolfo De La Rosa, Jorge D'soria and Luigi Luevano become San Diego’s "Other" Three Tenors. They perform opera regularly, accompanied by Jewel Myers, at Point Loma's La Scala, Little Italy's Mimo's Italian Village and Downtown’s Westgate Hotel. And now you can catch their program of Broadway show tunes, operetta and arias also at Marc's Bar and Grill in Hillcrest.
Meyers says restaurant patrons with latent singing desires have been known to join the tenors. "The tenors are all over; they are out with the crowd," says Meyers. The clientele and setting determine the feel of the program, she says. "Sometimes you can hear a pin drop, and sometimes you can hardly hear the singers. But there's usually a certain song that catches everyone, and they give the singers their full attention."
The Other Three Tenors will be at Marc's Bar and Grill every other Wednesday, Dec. 1, 15 and 29, 7-9 p.m., located at 3940 Fourth Ave. between Washington and University in Hillcrest. For information, call (619) 293-0232.
