    William Nichol is the new v.p. of finance for Intracorp, a residential and commercial developer with several projects pending Downtown. He was most recently with Cenfed Financial Corp. in Pasadena and has been in the business for 25 years.

    The San Diego Council of the American Electronics Association announced Tracy Tone as executive director to oversee operations of a 170-member council. Before moving to San Diego in 1997, Tone was involved in political campaign and committee work in Washington, D.C.


Nichol
    Lawrence Fitch, president and CEO of the San Diego Workforce Partnership Inc., was named second v.p. of the U.S. Conference of Mayors Employment and Training Council. He will be instrumental in shaping the council's urban workforce policy agenda.


Ochinero

    Robert F. Driver Co. Inc. announced E. Gregory Ochinero as a v.p. and principal in the hospitality unit. Ochinero began his career in insurance in 1981 with Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Co

    Gateway named Tom Fisher v.p. of Global IT Architecture based at the company’s administrative headquarters in San Diego. He was most recently a principal with Whittman-Hart Inc. in Atlanta.

    Erich J. Lidl opened a law office in Downtown San Diego. The firm will specialize in business litigation, professional liability and construction law.


    The Association of Home-Based Businesses elected Art Kaliel president to replace retiring president Sheila Robbins.

    Jack Giacomini is chairman of the 18-member board of the newly formed Mission Valley Chamber of Commerce. He is v.p. and managing director of the Hilton/Hanalei hotel partnership and was a founder of the Mission Valley Tourism Council.

    John Mitchell III was named project manager for Douglas Wilson Companies, a real estate services firm. He oversees asset management for a national chain of 87 auto parts stores, three warehouse distribution facilities and corporate headquarters. He formerly was an asset manager with U-Haul International Inc.

    Peter Harris joined John Burnham & Company * Oncor as a v.p./real estate finance with the Capital Markets Group. He moves to the company from Centerstone Capital Group Inc., where he was executive v.p. and one of the founding principals.

    Inspired Arts Digital Media Group, developer of corporate Websites, named Bryan Mallindine CEO. He was president of Earthway Solutions and v.p. of finance and marketing for Road Runner Sports Inc.

    James West, founder and owner of West & Associates CPAs and Consultants, was awarded an honorary degree of Doctor of Laws Honoris Causa by California Western School of Law. West, a trustee for 10 years, was honored for service to the school and community.

    Ted Peña was named head of sales and marketing for the San Diego office of Computer Sales International Inc. Formerly he was business development manager of health care for CES/Way, a Sempra Energy subsidiary.

    Stephanie Casenza joined the Alliance Healthcare Foundation as communications officer. She has more than 16 years of public relations and marketing communications experience, and was with Sharp HealthCare, the San Diego Blood Bank, SDSU and Roni Hicks and Associates.

    The San Diego County chapter of the Society of Industrial and Office Realtors elected as president Marc Doyle, senior v.p. and manager of Business Real Estate Brokerage Company's North County office in Carlsbad. He was vice president last year and succeeds Brian Driscoll of Colliers International

    Dawn McBride was promoted to manager of the San Diego branch of Countrywide Home Loans Inc. With seven years in the business, McBride was most recently an account executive with the branch.

    Two appointments by the Sutherland Group Ltd. are Mary Jo Schumann, director of market research, and Roy Hyde, program manager, technology services division.

    Sitematic Corp., working to enable small businesses to use the Internet, has named three appointments: Steve Mitgang is senior v.p., marketing and business development; Warren Weiner, CFO; and Jim Madden, v.p. of sales. Previously, Mitgang was senior v.p. of marketing for Jostens Learning Corp.; Weiner was chief financial and administrative officer with Global Music Network; and Madden previously was v.p. of sales for COM2001.

    William Hall joined Ninteman Construction Co. as senior project manager. He is responsible for the administration and execution of projects from the design phase through completion of construction. He has 19 years in the field.

    Capital Bank of North County has announced Dennis Hoehn is now v.p./credit administration. He has been in banking for more than 36 years.

    Jim Bartell was promoted to senior v.p. by Nelson Communications Group. He has been with the San Diego division of the company since 1993 and has expertise in transportation, land use and legislation. He is in his fifth term on the Santee City Council, having served as mayor and deputy mayor during his tenure on the council.

    Promote La Jolla Inc., a business improvement district, elected Joost H. Bende, architect with Jain Malkin Inc. as president. Working with him are Deborah Duva, owner of Goldfish Point Cafe, vice president; Steve Riddle branch v.p. of First National Bank, treasurer; and Marcea Donovan, owner of the Artful Soul, secretary.

    Nancy Taylor, owner of Taylor DC/Communications, is president of the Gaslamp Quarter Historical Foundation for the year. Other officers are Peter Fayette, law offices of Peter Fayette, immediate past president; Sandra Grove, The Grove Agency, and Robert Mohle, Dean Witter Reynolds, vice presidents; Terry Hellenkamp, Kolodny & Pressman, secretary; and Kit Sparks, John Burnham & Co., treasurer.

    Roger Williams heads a newly opened regional office of Syzygy Network Solutions in San Diego. He is a 20-year veteran of the telecommunications industry.

    First Commercial Corp. named Bob Regnery CFO. Formerly with Ernst & Young Kenneth Leventhal, he has 11 years in the industry.

    The McQuertergroup hired Cynthia Zvanut as group manager and account supervisor. She has experience in high-tech marketing communications, formerly working as business development director for CellularOne in the U.S. Virgin Islands.

    Gil Abed and Hashem Karoum joined the San Diego office of the law firm of Stutz, Gallagher, Artiano, Shinoff & Holtz as associates. Abed will concentrate on civil litigation and construction, and Karoum will focus on school law and public entity representation.

    Turnquist, Schmitt, Kitrosser & McMahon accounting firm added Bruce Knowlton as tax manager. He held the same position formerly at the Palm Springs office of Maryanov, Madsen, Gordon & Campbell.

    Procopio, Cory, Hargreaves & Savitch admitted Richard Valdez and Theodore Griswold to partnership in the firm. Valdez is a member of the Trial & Commercial Litigation Team, and Griswold is on the firm's Environmental Law Team.

    Ronald Gilbert is new operations manager at the Landing Branch of Bank of Coronado. He has been with the bank for two years.

    A mortgage banker for 10 years, Shawna Ainsworth joined Barratt Mortgage Co. as a loan executive. She will specialize in refinancing, second trust deeds and new home loans.


Partridge

    Del Partridge, associate v.p. of John Burnham & Co. *Oncor International, received two awards from the San Diego Chapter of the Certified Commercial Investment Member. They are the 1998 Designee of the Year for outstanding service and the Transaction of the Year, which was for an $11 million sale of Girard Plaza and the Polo Building in La Jolla. This is the second time for the transaction award, which he received also in 1996 for the $10 million sale of 888 Prospect St., also in La Jolla. He has been with the firm since 1982.

    Stephen Slamon, CPA, has joined Cobb, Stees & Company as a partner.


    Rudy Castruita, San Diego County Superintendent of Schools, was named a member of the National Governing Board of Citizens Scholarship Foundation of America, and a member of the board of Southern California Dollars for Scholars program. An educator for 30 years, he was named California's Superintendent of the Year in 1992.

    Kevin Fickenscher was named to the board by Daou Systems Inc. He is senior v.p./chief medical officer for Catholic Healthcare West, an integrated system based in San Francisco.

    Tricia Waggoner, with 10 years of related experience, joined Bonded Carpet Inc. as g.m. of corporate operations.


Castruita

    Mark Stutz was hired as news director at KGTV/San Diego’s 10, effective March 1. He comes from WKXT-TV, the CBS affiliate in Jacksonville, Fla. He replaces Don Wells, who now heads the station's creative services department.

    Linda Devine was promoted to assistant g.m. of Barona Casino. She began as casino marketing director in 1994 and was promoted to v.p. of marketing. Before going to Barona, she was account director at O'Shaughnessy-Parr advertising agency.

    The Port Tenants Association elected Joseph Hall of Solar Turbines as chairman for the year. Working with him are Peter Lintrenta, Manchester Resorts, vice chair; Robert McKay, McKay, Carne & Lazarus, treasurer; Dick Cloward, SDPTA executive director, secretary; and new board members Capt. Bill Bartsch, San Diego Bay Pilots Association; and Monty Dickinson, Southwest Marine.

    Named g.m. of the SummerFest La Jolla was Kathryn Martin, formerly production/facilities manager at UCSD's Music Dept. for eight years

    Valhalla Scientific named Tim Eads as sales manager. He has been with the firm since 1997.

    Diversa Corp. elected Jay M. Short, Ph.D., as CEO to succeed Terrance Bruggeman, who resigned. Short has been president and chief technology officer and has been with Diversa for 10 years.

    Dennis Viera was appointed studio manager at Paul M. Bowers Photography where he will oversee daily operations, public relations and event photography.
Project Resources Inc., a national real estate due diligence company for the financial industry, appointed Tim Hasselbach as v.p. and Jo Ann Shannon as director of the company’s new customer service division. Both have 15 years of experience in the field.

    David O'Rell joined Grubb & Ellis as research analyst to direct market research for San Diego. Previously he was director of research and information systems for the San Diego Regional Economic Development Corp. He is a member of the San Diego Tech Force, a consortium that helps attract employees to the community.

    Jeffrey Dykes joined FirstWorld Communications as senior v.p. and general counsel. Dykes, one of the first attorneys to earn certificate of advanced studies in telecommunications, most recently was assistant general counsel for ICG Communications. Another FirstWorld appointment was Paul Adams, CPA, as v.p., finance and treasury serving as CFO.

    Maggie Watkins, director of marketing for the law firm of Luce, Forward, Hamilton & Scripps, was elected president of the Legal Marketing Association. She has been on the organization's board since 1996 and has been with the law firm since 1993.

    Howell Southmayd joined American Specialty Health Plans as v.p. of business development. He led managed care contracting for the 13 western states for SmithKline Beecham Clinical Laboratories before taking this position.

    The managed insurance programs division of the Arrowhead Group of Companies named Robin Reardon senior v.p. With 28 years of experience, she previously was senior v.p., casualty manager for Stewart Smith West Inc. a division of Willis Corroon.

    David Vine was named associate v.p. of Retail Properties Group Inc., a La Jolla-based firm. For the past five years, he has been a real estate manager with Fluor Corp.

    Brobeck, Phleger & Harrison law firm named Martin Nichols to partnership in the firm, and Jeffrey Garfinkle as senior counsel. Nichols is a business and technology attorney who specializes in emerging growth technology. He joined the firm in 1991. Garfinkle is a member of the financial services and insolvency group. He joined the company in 1991 and worked pro bono on behalf of musicians in the San Diego Symphony.

    Epimmune Inc. named Mark J. Newman as v.p., Infectious Disease Program. He has been in vaccine industry management for 10 years and moves from Vaxcel Inc. to take the new position.

    Lisa Vomero Inouye joined the San Diego office of Kleinfelder Inc., an environmental , geotechnical, construction management and materials testing firm. She specializes in technical writing, computerized watershed and aquifer analyses, as well as contract management.

    Elizabeth Aschmoneit joined Accountemps, a staffing service, as a staffing manager. She has 15 years of experience in the field.

    Robert Shaffer was appointed principal at Burkett & Wong; Sandra Stampfli joined the company as a structural engineer; and Charles Cheatham was hired as business manager. Shaffer, who joined the firm three years ago, will direct the civil engineering department of the San Diego office. Stampfli's 10 years of experience includes seismic and structural design of steel, concrete, masonry and wood structures. For the past 25 years, Cheatham has managed staffs of all sizes.

    Tony Albin joined the La Jolla office of Colliers International as v.p. A 23-year commercial real estate veteran, he is an investment specialist. Before joining Colliers, he was with OliverMcMillan.

    Named number seven of the 10 top women entrepreneurs in the country was Jacqueline Townsend Konstanturos, founder and CEO of the Townsend Agency marketing firm. The 10 were named by Entrepreneur magazine. The agency recently was given the 1998 International Arthur Andersen Best Practices Award for small and mid-sized companies whose business practices have led to outstanding performance.

    K. Dan Milgrim was named as a principal by Randall Lamb Associates, consulting mechanical and electrical engineering firm. In the field since 1985, he joined the company in 1997.

    Kim Wilburn joined Lavine, Lofgren, Morris & Engelberg CPA firm as a tax manager working with real estate and construction clients. She formerly worked for Deloitte & Touche.

    Four Square Productions added Scott Sorensen as a senior producer of broadcast and corporate video projects. During his 15 years in this field he has earned Clio, Telly and Homburg awards.

    The law firm of Best Best & Krieger elected James Gilpin as a partner. He specializes in eminent domain and land use litigation. Gilpin joined the Riverside office of the firm in 1991 and moved to the San Diego office when it opened in 1993.

    Kris Thompson has become a shareholder with the law firm of Neil, Dymott, Perkins, Brown & Frank. His practice emphasizes employment and business litigation, consultation and professional liability defense.

    Lauren Kegler joined Seltzer Caplan Wilkins & McMahon as marketing coordinator for the 61-attorney firm. She formerly worked with Bank One in Columbus, Ohio, and with American Express financial Advisors in Philadelphia.

    With more than 20 years of experience in marketing, management and communications, Francine Crocker has joined Bailey/Gardiner Creative Communication Inc. as v.p. of advertising. She moves there from Rancho Santa Fe Technology where she was director of marketing.

    Joining Nasland Engineering as a project manager is Robert haynes, who is returning to the firm after a 27-year hiatus. His first engineering job when he left the navy was as a drafter and junior designer with Nasland. Most recently he was a senior civil engineer with Kercheval Engineers.

    Bill Finley joined the Child Abuse Prevention Foundation/Polinsky Children's Center Foundation as executive director. A native San Diegan and father of four, Finley was director of development for Meals-on-Wheels Greater San Diego

    Applied Digital Access Inc. named business managers for three units established to focus on a core product and market area. They are Don O'Connor, v.p. of customer support, who will manage the Network Systems Business Unit; Kevin Pope, previously v.p. of development, who will direct the Intelligent Network Elements Business Unit; and Peter Savage, president and CEO who is acting manager for Network Management Business Unit.

    The new face at the helm of the BayKeeper patrol boat is that of John Barth, an attorney, who will act as Keeper Pro-Tem with the resignation of BayKeeper Ken Moser after four years in the position. Recruitment has begun for a permanent BayKeeper.

    New shareholders named by Seltzer Caplan Wilkins & McMahon are Daniel A. Andrist, a member of the firm's litigation group, and J. Scott Scheper, also in the litigation group. The firm also named Julie Lopez, general civil litigation, and Patricia Garcia, head of family law, as of counsel. Newly added associates to the firm are David Greeley, litigation, and Troy Kingshaven, business. Another shareholder, James Dawe, was installed as president of the board of the new Library of California, a newly created entity which oversees the state network of public and private libraries and replaces the California Library Services Board. Craig Courter, a partner with the firm, was elected to the La Mesa Spring Valley School Board. He fills a seat vacated by Ted Crooks, who was elected to the Grossmont High School Board.

    Maureen Wisener, associate director of marketing and communications at Paradise Valley Hospital, received the Communicator of the Year award from the Health Care Communicators of San Diego.

    M. Cynthia Evans was appointed v.p./commercial banking officer for Peninsula Bank. She formerly was with Wells Fargo Bank.

    Partnerships With Industry named Vickie Cap associate executive and Deena Feinman as development director. Cap previously was program director of the partnership's North County office, and Feinman was formerly project director and grants coordinator for the Council of Jewish Federations.

    Mayer Roofing Inc. promoted Bruce Leonard to v.p. of sales. He previously oversaw Southern California sales at Monier Inc.

    The Affiliates announce the promotion of Tricia Blum to division director of the company, a staffing service specializing in project attorneys and other legal personnel. With the company since last August, she has three years experience as a para professional.

    Angelyn Lechman was named public relations manager for Inland Entertainment Corp. She was formerly with Stoorza, Ziegaus & Metzger Inc.
