Becky’s House Is His
14-Month Project

Architect Tim Golba uses his
talents on retreat for abused
women and children

With a client like Legoland, architect Tim Golba may have some clever ideas that will welcome children who someday stay at Becky’s House. The president of Golba Architecture Inc., Golba has devoted 14 months to planning what will be the YWCA’s transitional domestic violence shelter.

The politics of using public money and working with several organizations in designing the project, conceptually to the construction, he says, have been challenging.

Golba’s firm has been recognized in several national publications including Better Homes and Gardens and San Diego Home and Garden. The Blue Tattoo night club on Fifth Avenue also is Golba’s work.

Golba’s firm is in its 12th year. He specializes in custom residential beach and commercial property. He lives in Bay Park with his wife and two daughters in what he says was once a “900-square-foot cracker box built in 1955,” which has become a revamped home that enjoys a spectacular view.
