Marissa Acierto-Rodriguez detours on
the way to a planned nursing, law career

Filipino female-owned businesses are rare enough, but add technology to the mix, and you have one: Marissa Acierto-Rodriguez’s Cellular 2000+.

Licensed to teach post secondary vocational education in pharmacology, human anatomy, physiology and physics, Acierto-Rodriguez, 38, took a detour on her planned trip first to nursing school and then to law school. Instead, she started a National City-based cellular phone and pager company that seeks to broker the services customers need.

Acierto-Rodriguez lives in Paradise Hills with her 8-year-old son, Michael. She is involved in several organizations promoting women and children, including Women Espirit De Corps, a network of professional women of which she is a co-founder.

In addition to community activities, Acierto-Rodriguez is politically active, serving this year as the campaign manager for Jonathon Parungao, who is running against Juan Vargas for the 79th District State Assembly.
