She Knows Her Way
Around Town

Susan Watson is g.m. of a leading
transportation company and
an active community volunteer

Susan Watson knows her way around San Diego. It’s her job. Watson, 38, is vice president, general manager and chief operating officer of The The Transportation Network, the company whose local holdings include Yellow Cab of San Diego. A 13-year veteran of the company, she got the top job in San Diego after first being assigned the task of recruiting someone for the position.

At that time she was director of finance for an affiliated company, Western States Investment Group. But Watson decided she was ready for the job with Transportation Network and her company agreed. She took over the position last year.

Under her direction, the company has earned a number of honors. The Premier Ride division is a finalist in the ConVis Finest Service Award program, and The Transportation Network was among the finalists for San Diego’s Multicultural Heritage Awards.

A native San Diegan, Watson has volunteered with organizations such as the San Diego Zoo, the Door of Hope, the American Cancer Society, the American Heart Association, Children’s Hospital, the Women’s Shelter, the San Diego Blood Bank, the Battered Women’s Society, and since having children of her own, she’s concentrated on more school-related organizations such as Christian Unified Schools of San Diego.

Watson also is a founding member of San Diego Safe and Sound, a newly formed alliance of public and private sector entities focused on educating the young public about the serious impact of drinking and driving.
