At Home In Cyberspace

Russian-born Dema Zlotin
builds sophisticated Web pages

Dema Zlotin, co-founder of the 4-year-old San Diego company Silicon Space Inc., could be described as a cyberspace astronaut. Since its founding, his company has grown from a two-person out-of-the-house operation to a 70-employee firm.

Zlotin, 30, and his partner, CEO Curt Nelson, build sophisticated Web packages for companies ranging from emerging businesses to Fortune 500 firms.

A University of California at San Diego computer science graduate, Zlotin is a principal certified Lotus professional. He was a semifinalist for E&Y Entrepreneur of the Year, the Starcom award and was featured as one of San Diego’s top emerging growth companies and in “Profiles of Outstanding CEOs.”

Born in Moscow, Zlotin and his family came to the United States via Vienna and Rome, landing in Los Angeles when he was 4. The son of two engineers who earned graduate degrees in the 1970s, Zlotin has consulted with top technology firms such as Anderson Consulting and Price Waterhouse.

Through his involvement with San Diego Supercomputer Center, a research unit of UCSD, Zlotin is a member of the VRML WebBrowser Development team.
