Named new president of H.G. Fenton Co. was Mike Neal, who has been with the company since 1988. Geoff Swortwood, with the firm since 1992, was promoted to head commercial building development and acquisitions; and Shelly Weld and Mary Day Dewart are together managers of the company’s commercial portfolio. Harry Hunte remains CEO and board chairman.

Troy A. Franzen has joined the private banking department of Comerica Bank-California as v.p. He comes to Comerica with eight years’ experience in the financial service industry, most recently as a financial adviser in Irvine and Beverly Hills, specializing in advanced estate planning and wealth management.

Robert Rose joined the law firm of Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton LLP as a lateral partner in the business crimes group in the firm’s San Diego office. He formerly operated Rose & Associates, a boutique San Diego law firm that opened in February 2000.

Mark Batten has been promoted to principal at Burkett & Wong Engineers. He joined the firm in 1984 and will be structural project manager for the Garden Buildings at the new Padres Ballpark.

Bob White received an achievement in public service award from San Diego State University’s Ambassadors for Higher Education, in recognition of his support to colleges and universities throughout his political career. He was former Gov. Wilson’s chief of staff during Wilson’s tenures as San Diego mayor, state assemblyman, U.S. senator and governor.

Tiffany Lynn Harrison was named escrow closing specialist for Chicago Title’s Southern California Builder Services Division. She has five years of experience in the Southern California market and most recently worked with Shea Homes Mortgage and Continental Escrow.

Graham Downes Architecture Inc. appointed Dennis Rogers as senior architectural designer. He has more than 20 years of experience, most recently with a Seattle firm.

Judith R. Glickman has been named head of the La Jolla Country Day School. She joined the Country Day community in July as interim head for the 2001-2002 school year. She served for 10 years as superintendent of public schools for the La Cañada and Moraga, Calif., school districts, headed the American School in London for six years, and spent the 2000-2001 school year in New Jersey as interim head at Princeton Day School.

The Brobeck, Phleger & Harrison partnership has elected Richard L. Parker as firmwide managing partner to succeed James E. Burns Jr. Parker has served as the San Diego office managing partner since May 2000.

The University of San Diego named Gwendolyn S. Lytle as associate v.p. for human resources. She was director of human resources at Clark Atlanta University in Georgia, and before that was assistant director of human resources at California Institute of Technology in Pasadena. Also new to USD is Jack Kelly, director of alumni relations. He formerly managed business development at Silicon Space Inc. A USD graduate, he earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration in 1987.

Patricia M. Boer has joined Spherion Human Capital Consulting Group’s San Diego office as a senior consultant. Most recently, Boer consulted with Monster.com, where she served as the site's Career Guru, writing articles, conducting online chats and responding to message boards dealing with career issues and online job recruitment.

Hank Cunningham, director of the city’s Community and Economic Development Department, has been appointed to the board of the International Economic Development Council.

San Diego National Bank has hired Marcia Weir as v.p/SBA loan officer at its Chula Vista office and Steve Harrington as v.p. and commercial lending officer at its San Marcos branch.

John N. Stinnett has joined Roel Construction’s Surety Group to spearhead the expansion of its construction management division. Mike Moore has been hired as superintendent. Stinnett was formerly with Douglas E. Barnhart and Morre was with KBI. Also new at Roel is Jonathan White, project engineer, who has been in construction since 1995. Promoted by Roel Construction Co. were Rachel Huffman, from assistant project manager to project manager, and Brian Buchanan to assistant project manager. Both joined the firm in 1999.

Marston+Marston Inc. has added Aundene Hugg as v.p. and Lauren Walsh as account coordinator. In addition, Rob Schupp has been promoted to executive v.p. Schupp has been with Marston+Marston since 1998 as v.p. Hugg comes to Marston+Marston as a veteran of San Diego City Hall as management assistant to former City Manager Jack McGrory and as policy aide to former Mayor Susan Golding. Walsh has experience working in high-tech public relations and strategic marketing accounts.

Maxine Gellens, Prudential California Realty, received the 2001 McNaught-Davis/Knox Award from the La Jolla Real Estate Brokers Association Inc. The award recognizes personal integrity, community activity, service to the real estate profession, salesmanship and cooperation with associates. Gellens received Prudential’s Pinnacle Award and was named one of the top three producers in the nation in 2000 with close to $100 million in sales.

James Donald Flood II joined the Brehm Companies as v.p. of forward planning. His 15 years of experience includes 10 years with Polygon, a group of real estate entities in Orange County.

Chula Vista dentist Dr. Anne E. Bowman was installed as president of the San Diego County Dental Society. The third woman to serve in this capacity, she succeeds Dr. V. Roger Tibbetts.

Dale Holbrook was promoted to v.p. of operations for Shea Homes, and Joe Anfuso was named director of finance. Holbrook has been with Shea Homes for 10 years and before that worked for Brock Homes, a subsidiary of the Ryland Group. Anfuso has been in financing for 17 years, most recently with Pat & Oscars Restaurants. Tod Fontana was named by Shea Homes as product development manager. Before joining Shea in 1999, Fontana worked for architectural firms.

Jazzercise Inc. appointed Shanna Missett Nelson as executive v.p., succeeding Margaret Stanton who retired after filling the position since 1978. Missett Nelson has been a Jazzercise instructor for 14 years and is a principal spokeswoman and presenter at conventions for the organization.

Garry Papers from Portland has joined Austin Veum Robbins Parshalle, a full service architecture firm. Papers has been an architect for 18 years.

Christine Gee, a real estate agent since 1977, has teamed up with her daughter, Summer, in the Willis Allen Co.’s Point Loma Real Estate office. Summer Gee has worked as an assistant to office agents since 1999.

Burnham Real Estate Services promoted Peggy Thrailkill to v.p. and senior real estate manager and Carmela Vitrano to real estate manager. Thrailkill joined Burnham Real Estate Services a year ago. She previously was v.p. of asset management transitions for Burnham Pacific, a nonaffiliated company. Vitrano’s 10 years of real estate experience includes serving with Burnham Real Estate Services from 1994 to 1997. She rejoined Burnham a year ago.

Harold G. Pell, owner of San Diego-based Pell Interiors, has been elected president of the San Diego chapter of the American Society of Interior Designers for the 2001-02 term.
