PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP has named Rich Kalenka managing partner and leader of its Technology, Information and Communications and Entertainment practice in San Diego. Kalenka joined the San Diego office from the firm’s New York City office after 20 years. *** Paul Nieto has been named president/CEO of ProjectDesign Consultants. Nieto joined the firm in 2000 as CFO, prior to that he was at EastLake Co. *** Antonio C. Martinez II, v.p. of government relations and consumer health care products legal counsel at American Specialty Health Inc., has been elected v.p. of the National Foundation for Women Legislators. *** Marilee Rice Bankert has been named marketing director for the NTC Foundation. Bankert is a 20-year marketing professional in San Diego, having led the marketing efforts for Amtrak San Diego, Seaport Village and Fashion Valley Shopping Center. *** Wingcast LLC has appointed Ronald Simon as its first full-time CFO. Prior to joining Wingcast, Simon was acting chairman, CEO and CFO of SoftNet Systems. *** Dennis V. Arriola has been appointed to the newly created position of v.p. of investor relations at Sempra Energy. In addition, the company announced the promotion of Karen Sedgwick to director of investor relations. *** Procopio Cory Hargreaves & Savitch has brought in Troy Schmelzer as a partner. Schmelzer was formerly a partner with the San Diego office of Lyon & Lyon LLP. *** Barona Casino has hired Shawn Dewey as director of entertainment and special events. Dewey previously worked for the Bellagio Resort and the Mirage Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. ***
*** Ken Derrett has been named v.p. and chief marketing officer of the San Diego Chargers. He was previously with the National Basketball Association. *** Hughes Network Systems has hired Richard Senior, a native of Manchester, England, as a software engineer; Ravin Perinpanayagam, a native of Sri Lanka, as a hardware engineer; and Pralhad Goggi, a native of India, as a software engineer. *** Quake Global has promoted Mark Jones to v.p., product development and chief technical officer. A founding engineer with Quake Global, Jones started the Engineering Department at Quake's inception in December 1998. ***
*** Sundt Construction Inc. has hired Kim Floyd as its marketing manager and Willis Locke as project director. Floyd has been in the industry for five years and worked for Bovis Lend Lease in North Carolina. Locke was previously employed by Doherty Concrete. *** Charlene Bates has been promoted to v.p. of sales for Ryland Homes’ Southern California division. Bates joined the firm in 1999. ***
*** EDmin.com has named Thomas P. Jandris its president and appointed him to the board. Jandris was previously with the Education Commission of the States. *** Kimball, Tirey & St. John has hired Jana Logan and G. Ehrich Lenz to its business real estate group. Logan’s expertise is in commercial real estate, real property litigation and transactions. Lenz specializes in employment and competitive business litigation matters. *** Patti McKelvey of McMillin Realty is singled out by Realtor Magazine as one of the leading agents in the country during its first ranking of the top 100 residential salespeople. The ranking was drawn from more than 1,000 National Association of Realtor members. *** William E. Steward, town manager for the master-planned community of Santaluz in Oceanside, has received the Lifetime Achievement Award, the community association management industry’s top leader award for 2001. Steward is a 32-year veteran of the field. *** The Townsend Agency has welcomed Neil McQueen back in the position of executive v.p. of brand marketing and creative director. McQueen returns to the agency from Shafer Advertising in Irvine where he worked as executive creative director for major technology clients such as Toshiba, Nokia, Fujitsu and Oracle. *** William Alejandro Virchis, professor of the theater at Southwestern College, has been chosen to be the visual and performing arts director for Sweetwater Union High School District. Covell previously worked for Bakersfield Arc. *** Caryn Bailey, formerly with Durrant Architects of Tucson, Ariz., has joined Salerno/Livingston Architects as team project manager. Janice M. Reiboldt, formerly with the University of San Diego, has joined the firm as director of administration and operations. *** Albert Garcia has joined the Willis Allen Co.’s Point Loma office as a sales associate. Formerly from Silicon Valley, Garcia has spent the last 25 years in the teaching profession. *** Jennifer Crawford has joined Randall Lamb as director of marketing for the San Diego and San Francisco offices. For the past four years, Stansfield has served as v.p. of business operations for Cox in Orange County. *** Bob Beatty has been named CFO for United Way of San Diego County. Previously, Beatty was at a local mechanical contracting firm. *** Renae Rock has joined Keeton Construction as business development coordinator. She previously worked for a construction firm in Temecula. *** John Erthein has been named senior investment associate by the board at Marcus & Millichap Real Estate Brokerage Co. Erthein joined the firm in 1997 as a sales associate. *** SDSU’s College of Extended Studies has appointed JoAnna Parrino Clark as media relations and marketing specialist. Steven Collins has been hired at SDSU as manager of government and community relations in the university’s Marketing and Communications department in the division of University Advancement. Clark comes to the position from SDSU’s Marketing and Communications department where she has worked in media relations for the past two years. For the past five years, Collins worked at the San Diego County Water Authority. *** Dwanna Outlaw has joined Financial 21 Community Credit Union as manager of the credit union’s new Call Center department. Outlaw comes to Financial 21 with an extensive background in call center management, training and customer service. *** Ramona Walker has been named CEO of the San Diego Blood Bank. Walker previously held both the COO and CFO positions at the blood bank. *** San Diego Regional Economic Development Corp. has appointed Bill Carney as v.p. of corporate services. Carney was previously the v.p. of business development for the Orange County Business Council. *** Joseph Winkler has been hired as an executive asset manager in the commercial real estate division at Capstone Advisors.
