Henderson, 31, began her career at NCR as part of the Corporate Internship Program after her graduation in 1994 from Wright State University in Ohio. She has moved through the ranks to her present position in product management. But her involvement in NCR’s Diversity Programs is where she has excelled. As co-chair of the SoCal Diversity Team, her main goal “is to make sure the company is aware of and celebrates the diversity in its employees,” she says. Her duties as co-chair include running monthly team meetings, recruiting members for subteam positions and coordinating programs that further the diversity goals. She was instrumental in planning NCR’s annual Heritage Week with activities that included four NCR business resource groups: the Alliance of Black NCR Employees; Asian/Pacific American Association for Advancement Inc.; the Hispanic Association of NCR Employees; and Women in NCR. Henderson, who studied journalism in college, is a member of the San Diego Association of Black Journalists. For this organization, which began about four years ago, she coordinated what is expected to become an annual News Maker luncheon workshop. She was honored as the Outstanding Member of the Dayton Chapter of the Alliance of Black NCR Employees for 2001, an honor that came after she had moved to San Diego. Since coming here, she has settled in Mission Valley and is a member of Bayview Baptist Church, where she sings in the sanctuary choir.
