Born and raised in Tijuana, he has worked in both countries most of his adult life. Working at Sempra doesn’t leave him much time for his own business, i’Americas Group, a consulting firm headquartered in Downtown San Diego with offices in Tijuana, but he still manages to do work for several clients. i’Americas Group focuses on market development services for Latin American and U.S. companies, specializing in the telecommunications and software industries. Olivieri’s involvement in the community includes serving on the boards of the South County Economic Development Council and San Diego Workforce Investment. He also was vice president of Coparmex Young Entrepreneurs Commission and participates in San Diego Dialogue. In between, he finds the time to support the efforts of the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. When he isn’t working, he spends family time with his wife, Guillermina, and three children: Mario, 5; Martha, 3; and Maria, 10 months, and is involved in Grupo Diocesano, a Catholic group. Olivieri says it’s fun being interested in so many things, and few people are surprised anymore when his is the first hand raised to volunteer for new projects. Receiving the 40 Under Forty distinction came as a surprise to Olivieri, who didn’t even know he’d been nominated. “I’m very happy,” he says. “I will put it next to my MBA diploma.”
