Since launching Hey Slick Massage Oil in December 1999, the company has developed the Hey Slick Personal Spa line, lotions and oils made for use in for spas and sold in the retail market. The products can be found at Nordstrom, Whole Foods Market, Bellisima Day Spa and Let’s Go La Jolla. Rott developed his company’s Web site with the San Diego-based Net Building Co. and partnered with Blk/Mrkt Inc. for design and visual communications. “We try to partner with local businesses to help develop products and services, which allows us to be much more hands-on,” Rott says. “Partnering with companies like The Net Building Co. and Blk/Mrkt has enabled us to develop innovative marketing strategies that have been a key to our success.” As chairman of the La Jolla High School Class of ’91 Reunion Committee, Rott is securing corporate sponsors for the Nov. 24 event. Rott also works with the San Diego Jewish Academy, the YMCA Teen Link program, Children’s Hospital, the United Jewish Federation, and the San Diego Boys and Girls Club. He was named committee chair to organize the West Coast region of Teen People magazine’s generations exchange program uniting teens and senior citizens. Along with Rubb co-founder Robyn Statman, who was one of the 40 Under Forty honorees last year, Rott will be featured in the October issue of Elle magazine as a Young Entrepreneur Success Story in the Beauty Business.
