Arendsee Real Estate has received the Deal Maker of the Year award from the San Diego County Commercial Association of Realtors. *** U.S. Bank has named Robert Armstrong market chairman for the bank’s operations in San Diego. Armstrong brings 13 years of commercial banking and corporate financial experience with him. *** Michael J. Gilligan is the new CFO of the proposed Security Business Bank of San Diego. Security Business Bank expects to receive regulatory approval sometime this quarter. Gilligan most recently was executive v.p. and CFO of North County Bancorp and its subsidiary bank, North County Bank. *** Stewart Title of California Inc. has promoted Loretta Granger-Medrano to division president of San Diego County. Granger-Medrano has been with Stewart since 1989 and was previously operations manager and claims representative. *** Buck Martin left his job as g.m. of the Coors Amphitheatre in Chula Vista to become head of the Chula Vista Department of Recreation. He replaces Andrew Campbell, recreation director since 2000, who was named to a new position as director of building and park construction. *** CBL Data Recovery Technologies Inc. of Armonk, N.Y., a provider of computer data recovery services, has appointed Doug Owens to manage its recently opened full service West Coast lab in San Diego. Owens has more than 16 years’ experience in the data recovery business. *** Daniel Pascucci has joined Fish & Richardson as a principal. He previously was a partner at Gray Cary Ware & Freidenrich. Pascucci made his mark by obtaining the first temporary restraining order in the United States enjoining stock manipulation over the Internet. *** Luce, Forward, Hamilton & Scripps LLP has admitted Michael A. Attanasio, John D. Vaughn and Julie Vogelzang to the firm’s partnership. E. Patrick Swan has been elected to the firm’s executive committee and Robert D. Buell has been re-elected managing partner. Proehl from president and COO to president and CEO. Previous CEO Kenneth Widder will continue to serve as chairman of the board. Acker to partner in its San Diego office. *** The San Diego Sockers have named Richard Israel as the company’s executive v.p. and COO. In his new role, Israel will oversee all operations for the organization. Previously, Israel co-founded and served as v.p. of La Jolla-based Promark Sports, a national direct-marketing firm. *** The San Diego Building Owners and Managers Association has elected its new board. Cybele Thompson is returning as president, Joseph Murphy is v.p, David Sikute is secretary, Sonia Miro Perry is treasurer and Ted Kimball is general counsel. He was appointed judge after a 28-year career as an attorney. *** Three San Diegans named to a 30-member state advisory panel on food biotechnology are Kerry Tucker, CEO of Nuffer, Smith, Tucker, a San Diego public relations firm; Joe Panetta, CEO of Biocom/San Diego; and Maarten Chrispeels from UCSD’s Center for Molecular Agriculture. The panel is charged with developing food biotechnology state policy recommendations to the governor and the Legislature by January 2003. *** Continuing Life Communities appointed Darolyn Jorgensen-Kares as executive director of La Costa Glen Carlsbad, a continuing care retirement community opening in the spring. Saunders is the assistant director of engineering design at the San Diego Unified Port District. *** Southwestern College honored three professors during the annual Faculty Recognition Awards. Patricia Kelly was recognized for her teaching excellence, Sara Megling for her professional leadership and Jonathan Atwater for adjunct faculty. Linda Gilstrap has been named Southwestern College employee of the quarter. She has been with the college as director of grants and development since 1996, when she took the position temporarily. *** Southwestern College has hired Robert Gauvreau as v.p. for academic affairs. Gauvreau joins the team after 28 years as an administrator at Modesto Junior College. *** The Southwestern College board elected Terri Valladolid president and Maria Neves-Perman as v.p. College Superintendent/President Serafin A. Sasueta will be secretary. Also on the board are David J. Agosto, Nancy Mulcahy and Jean Roesch. *** Toby Fuller, a banker for 32 years, has retired from Bank of Coronado, which he joined in 1995 and served as regional v.p. and head of the bank’s Downtown office. A member of the San Diego Aerospace Museum board since 1975, Fuller will be the museum’s CEO and will be CEO for the Coronado Yacht Club where he has just become commodore. *** Danijela Trubint and Kimberly Bosworth have joined HMC Architects, San Diego office. Trubint, project coordinator, has six years of experience. Her degree is from University of Belgrade in Yugoslavia. Bosworth is an intern architect and will work on school district projects. *** A new account executive at the Flannery Group is Tyler Scherer. He is a former congressional aide in Washington, D.C., as well as an aide on local mayoral and city council campaigns. *** Angelia Ehlers was named director of sales and marketing for Senior Resources Group and its 13 senior-living communities. Her 10 years of experience includes most recently working as marketing director for the group’s residence near Portland, Ore.
