He has more than 43 years of municipal engineering and management experience. *** Chris Lewis was named manager of McMillin Realty’s Otay Ranch office. He has been a real estate broker and realtor with McMillin for nearly 10 years. He will manage up to 50 agents in the new office. *** Ryan Shea joined Grubb & Ellis as research manager for the San Diego County office. Most recently he was a sales and marketing consultant with a Santa Ana firm. *** Syrrx Inc., a drug discovery company, appointed Carolyn R. Adler as v.p. of intellectual property and legal affairs. Prior to joining Syrrx, Adler was v.p. of intellectual property at COR Therapeutics Inc. for eight years. *** The Grossmont-Cuyamaca Community College board selected Geraldine Marie Perri to take the helm at Cuyamaca College. She has been v.p. of instruction at San Diego Mesa College since 1998. *** New with the San Diego law firm of Procopio, Cory, Hargreaves & Savitch, is Stephen C. Beuerle, a partner on the intellectual property team. He was an attorney at Lyon & Lyon LLP where he specialized in patent and trademark prosecution. ***
*** Dave R. Meyer joined HDR Engineering Inc.’s San Diego office as senior project manager. Meyer previously was San Diego branch project manager for Clayton Group Services. *** Suzy’s Zoo Studios has named Paula Miller as v.p. of licensing and brand development. She has more than 23 years of experience in character licensing, most recently with Golden Books Family Entertainment in Manhattan. *** Trial attorney William F. Sullivan will serve as managing partner of the San Diego office of Brobeck, Phleger & Harrison LLP. Sullivan was elected to fill the vacancy left by Richard L. Parker, who was elected as firm-wide managing partner. This is Sullivan’s second term as managing partner of the San Diego office. *** John Ponder has joined the law firm of Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton as a lateral partner, working in the real estate/land use & natural resources/environmental practice group in the firm’s San Diego office. Ponder was with Sparber, Ferguson, Ponder & Ryan in San Diego. He specializes in real estate development. *** Immusol has added Dr. Michael Sherman to its executive management team as v.p., medical and clinical affairs. *** Civil litigation attorney John E. Barry joined Seltzer Caplan McMahon Vitek law firm. Barry previously was a partner in a Washington, D.C., law firm. Also newly hired is Jason Helsel, an associate, who graduated this year from Hastings Law School. *** Patrick Murphy, a 30-year advertising veteran, has joined Mentus Inc., a marketing/ PR agency, as senior v.p. for strategic brand marketing. Murphy has worked with UCSD Connect and Rotary International. He founded Patrick Murphy Advertising in 1969. *** Theresa McAteer, formerly a deputy in the San Diego City Attorney’s Office, has joined her husband Christopher E. McAteer to form McAteer & McAteer, Professional Law Corp. She was with the city for seven years. ***
*** Joseph G. Johnston Jr. was named a senior associate with HMC Architects and now has ownership in the firm. He has 23 years of experience in his field. Robert M. Nelson and Khary S. Knowles have joined the firm’s San Diego office. Nelson, a project coordinator, formerly worked in the company’s San Jose office. Knowles is a senior drafter. Both are working on modernization and additions for the San Diego Unified School District. *** RosArt Multimedia Inc. hired Jason Davis as production supervisor to manage the company’s graphics department. *** Dennis Mesnick, most recently executive director of ElderHelp of San Diego, is new executive director of the San Diego Chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. *** Daycom Systems named Richard H. Foster as v.p. of sales and marketing. With experience directing sales in the computer industry, Foster will head a 20-person sales team. *** MC Direct, a direct response marketing agency, promoted Mike Campbell to the newly created position of director of account services in its Poway office. Campbell joined MC Direct in 1995. *** Business attorney Pauline H.G. Getz joined the board of Episcopal Community Services. She is a founding partner of Getz and Crosby, a Poway law firm. *** Raul N. Lamas has joined Ted Elliott & Associates as recruiting manager specializing in the placement of permanent accounting and financial professionals. *** Klinedinst, Fliehman & McKillop named Kendra J. Hall and Heather L. Rosing as shareholders of the firm. An appellate advocate, Hall chairs the Klinedinst appellate department. Rosing protects creditors’ rights in bankruptcy. *** CPAs Linda Catalina, Daisy Hom, Annie Massab, Natalie Pawlak and Natalie Richardson joined Grice, Lund & Tarkington LLP. Catalina has three years of experience as a staff accountant; Hom specializes in auditing, accounting and consulting. Massab works out of both the Escondido and Encinitas offices as the firm administrator and a healthcare consultant. Pawlak and Richardson are staff accountants in the Escondido office. ***

Previously she was controller of the construction division of the Sares-Regis Group, a residential and property management firm in Irvine. *** David J. Strobel has been appointed to the advisory board of San Diego-based management consulting firm The Makena Group Inc. Strobel most recently was president of Space Electronics Inc., a high-technology manufacturing company specializing in electronic components for high-reliability space and military applications, which merged with Maxwell Technologies in 1999. *** Bob Burkett, principal and company founder of Burkett & Wong Engineers, has been named to the Structural Engineers Association of California College of Fellows. This honor signifies outstanding skills and professional achievement as a structural engineer. *** Last month’s Metropolitan Movers section named Harry Hunte as H.G. Fenton’s CEO and board chairman, rather than Henry Hunte. Metropolitan Magazine regrets the error. *** Fresh Start Surgical Gifts nominated Dr. Steven Beal, a long-time Fresh Start volunteer dentist and financial supporter, for the North County Philanthropy Award. He received an award of appreciation for individuals who volunteer. *** ProjectDesign Consultants hired Gordon K. Lutes as senior v.p. of the Municipal Infrastructure Department. He has more than 30 years of experience that includes work on the Mission Valley West and East trolley extensions. *** Mark Niznik was promoted to San Diego maintenance branch area manager by the Southwest Region of TruGreen LandCare. Since July of 1999, Niznik has worked for the company in Austin, Texas. *** Tom Searles joined Spherion Human Capital Consulting Group’s San Diego office as a principal consultant. Searles was vice president of career management services for the San Diego office of a regional career services firm. *** Granite Homes, with single-family residences in North County communities, has hired Christine Harmon as executive assistant, and John Walch as an assistant project manager. *** Catherine Hughes was promoted to director of interior design for Smith Consulting Architects. She has been with the firm since 1999. Hughes has 17 years of experience in the commercial interior design industry. *** George Simon joined Brookfield Homes as information technology manager. Formerly with Women First Healthcare and San Dieguito School District, he has experience as a network administrator. *** Joining Keeton Construction as a project manager is Ross M. Fontes and as a project assistant is Julie Mitchell, formerly office manager for 7 Star Construction in Lake Havasu. Fontes most recently was with JJS Inc. Construction in Irvine. *** Stephen Weber, president of San Diego State University, has become chair of the American Association of State Colleges and Universities. He was secretary-treasurer in 1999 and president-elect in 2001. *** First Future Credit Union named Chris Herring as network services director and Susan Whiteley as v.p. of information technology. Herring most recently held a similar position at Scripps Bank. Whiteley most recently was with Scripps Bank/US Bancorp. *** Dave Carter joined the Dudek & Associates Inc. corporate office as CFO. He has 16 years of financial experience. *** Aeronex, a supplier of gas and liquid purification equipment, selected Xiaosong Jiang as head of its new marketing department. Jiang was with Aixtron Inc. for six years. *** Cameron Roberson joined Leighton and Associates’ San Diego office as a project engineer. He has eight years of geotechnical experience in all stages of earthwork projects. Prior to joining Leighton and Associates, Roberson was employed by Pacific Soils Engineering in San Diego. *** Vicki Krantz has been appointed director of business and professional development programs at UCSD. She has been director of HR management programs at UCSD Extension since 1999. *** Independence Capital Group has changed its name to Comprehensive Financial Group and has named James E.
