“I’m a doer,” says Morse, 57. “I like to be part of a team that makes things happen in the workplace. It’s what’s exciting for me.” With almost 30 years of experience in the human resources field, Morse’s accomplishments run a wide range. She developed and implemented a corporate unemployment insurance program that resulted in a multimillion-dollar reserve. She established an in-house complaint procedure, revised employee handbooks to conform with current governmental legislation and developed several management training programs. Proactive accomplishments like these are why Morse was honored with one of the first YWCA Tribute to Women And Industry awards in 1980. “At that time, there were very few women in business,” recalls Morse, an Alpine resident. “So that award was very special and it still hasn't lost its impact.” At the time, Morse worked as the human resources manager for Cubic Corp. Since then, she has completed a bachelors degree in business administration and management at University of Redlands. She opened her own human resources firm before being wooed by one of her clients, GKN Aerospace Chemtronics Inc., a manufacturer of aerospace components, in 1991, where today she is vice president of human resources. “I like the family atmosphere and friendliness of the company,” she says. “I like working as a partner with management and employees to make this an excellent place to work. That’s what I take the most pride in that employees like to work at Chemtronics.” In her spare time, Morse enjoys riding her two quarter horses. She and Larry, her husband of 37 years, also spend time with their two grandsons in Florida. Chemtronics recently acquired a company in Kent, Wash., and is acquiring another in Orange County. As staffs from these various companies join Chemtronics, Morse-the-doer has plenty to keep her busy. “I’m excited to be a part of the growth of this organization,” she says. “I want to keep making this a great place to work.” Patricia Morris Buckley
