Day Of Dialogue Events Promote Conflict Resolution

Several events will be part of the Day of Dialogue/Peacemaker Awards scheduled March 18 to 22, culminating with the presentation of awards at the Mission Valley Marriott.

Throughout the week, the goal of the sponsoring San Diego Mediation Center will be to convince people that although conflict is inevitable, it is manageable. Scheduled as part of the third annual Day of Dialogue are the following free events:

• Parent-Teen Conflict Resolution workshops:
March 19, 6-7:30 p.m., Escondido Public Library, 239 S. Kalmia St., Escondido.
March 20, 6-7:30 p.m., Chula Vista Public Library southern branch, 389 Orange Ave., Chula Vista.

• Business Conflict Resolution workshops:

Receiving Peacemaker awards March 22, in the 14th annual presentation, will be Sandra McBrayer, CEO of The Children’s Initiative, for youth violence prevention programs; leaders of the BioTech 2001 Mediation Project; Marc Chery, Malcolm X Library and Performing Arts Center, and Rosemary Johnston, Interfaith Shelter Network, for community forums; Antoine El-Assiss, San Diego Police Dept., for videotape production and distribution; and David S. Casey Jr., Association of Trial Lawyers of America for development of the Sept. 11 Victim’s Fund.
