Stop the Meeting Madness” isn’t a business protest slogan. It’s the name of a free Chapman University seminar. Since January, Chapman’s Organizational Leadership Program has offered brown bag seminars at businesses ranging from GERS Inc. to Overland Data. Popular lunchtime sessions include “Pardon Me, You Have Spinach in Your Teeth: The Gift of Feedback” and “Taking Charge of Change,” says Christine Cecil, Organization Leadership Program director. Cecil and graduate students present topics like negotiation and team development. This gives students real-world experience. Her presentation on change received top marks from Thomas Merkel, GERS development project manager. “She was knowledgeable, entertaining and definitely sparked some ideas,” he says.
