The San Diego Symphony’s 10-week, 20-concert Summer Pops at the Navy Pier kicks off June 28 with “Rhapsody in Blue A Gershwin Celebration” and takes place each weekend through Aug. 31. Other season highlights include headliners The Manhattan Transfer, Marvin Hamlisch and Keith Carradine, and themed concerts spotlighting opera, blues, Broadway show tunes and Lawrence Welk. A complete schedule is at www.sandiegosymphony.org. While glass and alcohol are not allowed on the pier, this year pops patrons can choose from boxed dinners, vendors offering coffee, pastries, snacks and other beverages, or bring their own food. All concerts are followed by a Fireworks America presentation sponsored by the Port of San Diego. The Symphony will renew past Summer Pops subscriptions through May 24 and offer new subscriptions, priced between $65 and $590, and individual tickets, costing $15 to $59, beginning June 3. Tickets can be purchased in person at Symphony Hall or at a Navy Pier ticket office to open mid-June, online at www.ticketmaster.com or over the phone at (619) 235-0804 or (619) 220-TIXS.
