*** Mark W. Danis has been appointed one of Morrison & Foerster’s three managing partners of operations for the national law firm. Danis has been with the firm since 1990, and is also currently managing partner of the San Diego office. *** Jerry Dressel, president of Dressel Financial Services, is the new president of the SDSU Alumni Association board for 2003-04. Penney has joined the Pacific Building Group as senior project manager. Penney has more than 30 years’ experience in the construction industry. *** Lawrence J. Kaplan, a partner at San Diego-based law firm Solomon Ward Seidenwurm & Smith, is one of 30 people nationwide to be selected by the IRS as a qualified neutral for taxpayers who elect to enter binding arbitration. *** Sally Hardin has joined the University of San Diego as the dean of the Hahn School of Nursing and Health Science. Hardin was the former director of the Ph.D. nursing program at the University of Missouri, St. Louis. *** Roel Construction has promoted Pete Sara to senior v.p. in its Automotive Group, and Gaurav Shah to project manager. Sara has 20 years of experience in construction. Shah joined the company in 1998. *** Walter Altmann has been hired as on-staff naval architect and designer by Knight & Carver YachtCenter, a boat-building and repair company on the bay founded in 1971. Altmann’s 15 years of experience in the yachting industry include new product design for Hatteras Yachts in North Carolina. Born in the Dutch East Indies, one of nine children, Altmann moved to San Diego when he was 14, and now lives in Clairemont. *** Joseph Wu has joined Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton as partner in the business practice group in San Diego. Wu’s specialty is resolving business disputes between companies across the Pacific Rim. *** Burnham Real Estate Services has named Lynn LaChapelle to head its new specialty group, Burnham Capital Markets Investment Group. LaChapelle has been with Burnham for 13 years. *** B. Craig Horwat has joined Architects Delawie Wilkes Rodrigues Barker as an architect. Mandelbaum is an executive v.p. and CCO at Landmark and has 22 years of experience in the San Diego banking industry. *** Dawn Leahy has joined the Willis Allen Co.’s Point Loma real estate office. *** Seltzer Caplan McMahon Vitek law firm has hired Kyle A. Hook and Kathryn Roth-Douquet as associates. Hook’s practice encompasses various business and real estate matters. Roth-Douquet specializes in civil litigation and was previously judicial extern to Judge Thomas Whelan. *** Jan Wahl has been named assistant dean for SDSU’s College of Extended Studies, replacing Larry Cobb, who retired after 29 years. She was the artistic and technical director for the 13th annual festival of the Actors Alliance of San Diego. *** Beazer Homes has hired Matthew Brady as a land acquisition manager in San Diego County. Brady previously owned and operated a small street lighting business in Anaheim. *** Dr. William G. Bradley, chair of the department of radiology at UCSD, has been awarded the RSNA Gold Medal, the highest honor possible from the Radiological Society. Bradley has published more than 160 articles and 18 books and is considered one of the world’s experts in magnetic resonance imaging. *** Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) has elected Cynthia Roark of San Diego as chair of the national board of directors. Roark has been involved with MADD for almost two decades. *** Former San Diego District Attorney Paul Pfingst has joined the law firm of Higgs, Fletcher & Mack LLP.
