*** Rod Lanthorne has been elected chair of the YMCA of San Diego County board. He replaces Larry Shea, managing principal of Barney and Barney Insurance, who served for four years. Lanthorne is president of Kyocera International Inc. *** D.R. Horton Homes-Western Pacific Housing of San Diego has promoted Greg Waite to v.p. operations. Formerly director of purchasing, Waite has been with the company since 1996. *** Jeff Rogers is the new director of development at C.W. Clark Inc. He was principal, development planner and project manager for Rogers and Ucker. ***

Sorensen, a partner at Luce, Forward, Hamilton & Scripps, has been elected president of the board of the La Jolla Symphony & Chorus. *** Thomas L. McKenzie, a professor in SDSU’s department of exercise and nutritional sciences, has received the International Olympic Committee President’s Prize, bestowed by the Association Internationale des Ecoles Superieures d’Education Physique. He is co-founder and intervention director of Sports, Play and Active Recreation for Kids, a program which has been adopted by more than 2,000 schools in 25 states. *** The La Jolla Playhouse has announced several new staff members. Four intellectual property litigation attorneys have joined Heller Erman White & McAuliffe LLP from the San Diego office of Fish & Richardson. They are shareholder Alan Blankenheimer, special counsel Laura E. Underwood, and associates Jo Dale Carothers and Nathan R. Hamler.
Luann DeVriese, Winfried Wuttke and Lauren Moore have joined the Roel Construction consulting group team. DeVriese recently worked for Global Health Trax Inc., Wuttke has more than 20 years of experience in construction project management and Moore previously worked for Eastridge Group/Kvaas Construction in La Mesa. Melissa Hodges has been hired as safety administrative coordinator at Roel. Hodges graduated from Arkansas State University and has four years of experience.
