The fourth annual YachtFest drops anchor Sept. 10-14 off Shelter Island Marina and the Island Palms Hotel with more than three dozen swanky luxury yachts, awash in lavish decor and high-tech marine gadgetry, open for boarding.

Since Campbell Shipyard closed, the luxury yacht segment of San Diego marine industry — supply stores to marinas — has suffered. “We’ve developed this show to bring this industry to the attention of the community,” says YachtFest board chair David Roscow, with Fraser Yachts. He remembers the case of one megayacht built for a Saudi prince. “That one project alone left $50 million here in San Diego,” Roscow says.

The event also includes seminars with boat builders, brokers and captains on chartering and even crewing. Tickets are $50 or $45 if purchased before Sept. 1. For information, visit www.yachtfest.com or call (858) 373-8700.
