Return to Mediation Feature Story

While the name remains Day of Dialogue, the event that culminates with the annual Peacemaker Awards has evolved into five days of activities focused on conflict resolution. Sponsored by the San Diego Mediation Center, the events are designed to convince people that although conflict is inevitable, it is manageable. Among the free activities scheduled are:

  • A series of Parent-Teen Conflict Resolution workshops that includes two on March 24, from 6-7:30 p.m., one at the Mission Valley Library and other at the San Diego Mediation Center. On March 26 a session in Spanish will take place at the South Chula Vista Library.

  • A pair of Business Conflict Resolution workshops on March 24, one at the San Diego County Apartment Association and the other at Cal State San Marcos.

  • Phone-in consultations with trained mediators take place on March 27, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Culminating the event, and set for March 28 at the Hilton San Diego Resort, is an awards banquet, honoring San Diego City Attorney Casey Gwinn, Police Chief David Bejarano, the Gary and Jerri-Ann Jacobs International Teen Leadership Institute, the Writers Block program, city of San Diego Community Services Division, J. Peter Block Cos., Bosa Development, Centre City Development Corp. and YWCA of San Diego County. Tickets are $100.
