Well, we’ve done it again. Or, to be more precise, our readers have done it again with their nominations. Last spring Metropolitan began its annual 40 Under Forty search for outstanding young contributors to the community. For the fourth year, our judges turned up an amazing group that is as talented in the workplace as in the community.

It is a diverse group of individuals, ranging from those in private businesses to public service, who strive to improve life for everyone. They love their jobs, their volunteer activities and their families.

This year’s honorees were culled from a record number of submissions. We have to tip our hats to the independent judges — John G. Davies, University of California regent; Randa Trapp, of counsel with Sempra Energy (since appointed to the Superior Court bench); Abigail Barrow, director of the UCSD Jacobs School of Engineering; Richard Cloward, executive director of the Port Tenants Association; Scott Barnett, president, Barnett Consulting; and Louise Torio, Sherman Heights community activist — for their thorough work in evaluating such an over-qualified bunch.

Read on. Learn more about these pretty special people.
