Barbara Beck, the executive v.p. and chief of North American operations for Manpower Inc., will be the opening session speaker for the May 5 Workforce Summit. Put on by the San Diego Workforce Partnership, the half-day event is a forum for business strategies and workforce solutions. Among the topics Beck will discuss is the jobless recovery, how it is being felt across the country and what it means for San Diego’s economic future.
Breakout sessions will look at the living wage debate, the region’s temporary staffing industry and its role as an economic indicator, and hiring and recruitment trends.
The keynote speaker for the day is Tim Sanders, chief solutions officer for Yahoo and the author of “Love is the Killer App: How to Win Business and Influence Friends.” Sanders will talk about the three cultures that every business needs to be a great company to work for: cultures of information, abundance and compassion.
