Throughout the month, Time Warner Cable is hosting its fifth annual Clothes 4 A Cause business clothing drive. Used business attire is donated to local job training programs of the Alpha Project and YWCA’s Becky’s House. The Alpha project helps the homeless and low-income individuals and families. Becky’s House is a residential program for battered women and children. Both provide job training services.
Clothing can be dropped off at any Jenny Craig Weight Loss Centre or Time Warner Cable’s offices at 8949 Ware Court, San Diego, and 1110 Orange Ave., Coronado. Clothing must be in good condition. Persons who donate a complete suit will have the opportunity to win a $1,000 shopping spree at a San Diego mall.
“The YWCA and the clients we serve are very grateful to Time Warner Cable and Jenny Craig Weight Loss Centres for sponsoring Clothes 4 A Cause,” says Suzanne McClain, director of special events for the YWCA. “The business clothing the women in our transitional housing program receive will give them the self-confidence they need and deserve when entering the job market.”
Denise Reinicke, spokeswoman for Time Warner, says charitable service is important. “We’re really involved in the community,” she says. “This program is important because we’re supporting people who have taken the first step to turn their lives around.”
The drive collected 2,000 outfits in 2003 and is hoping for similar success this year. For a complete list of drop-off locations, contact Time Warner Cable at (858) 695-3220 or visit www.twcsd.com.
