Buyers at next month’s Chicago Toy and Game Fair will get their first exposure to a new board game called Roundabout, developed by Otero Games in Carlsbad. This new strategy game picks up where Backgammon left off, says Greg Otero, co-founder of Otero Games. “I think it’s really important for a family to spend some quality time together, like playing a game.”
Out since June 28, the game has been placed in a few coffeehouses in the county. Two to four can play. Retail stores in California, Nevada and Hawaii sell it for $24.95.
Otero Games was founded by Otero and Dan Blumberg, friends and game enthusiasts. Roundabout is their first product. Two more games will be released later. “First we want to bring Roundabout to a success before we start producing the other games,” says Otero. “We’re planning to go internationally too. Japan and Germany are really into strategy games, so I think it also can be a success over there.”
