This summer, Cynthia Monaco’s boss, Mick Pattinson, led the $165 million buyout of Barratt American from its British owners. One of Barratt American’s most ambitious forays under Pattinson has been into urban areas, where Barratt is building, and plans to build hundreds of homes.
It is Monaco’s responsibility as vice president of sales and marketing for Barratt Urban Development to make sure those homes are sold. In markets like La Jolla and Downtown, the buyers know what to expect. La Mesa, Escondido and other suburban urban centers present challenges.
The established markets should give her a running start.
“In 2005, we will have the first closings for Barratt’s newly formed urban division including 138 at Seahaus in La Jolla, followed by the entire building at Metrome in Downtown San Diego, with all 184 homeowners moving in within a two-month period,” says Monaco.
Monaco’s also has a plan for motivating the staff to exceed customer service targets. “If we meet our goal, our entire team will be going together in celebration to Maui in September.”
