‘Veronica Mars’ Star Makes
A Home In Little Italy

Enrico Colantoni

Enrico Colantoni, known for his roles as Elliott DiMauro in NBC’s hit sitcom “Just Shoot Me,” Mathesar in the cult movie “Galaxy Quest” and in UPN’s drama “Veronica Mars,” is one of San Diego’s newest celebrities.

Colantoni recently purchased a condo in Little Italy, where he stays while shooting “Veronica Mars,” a series filmed primarily in La Jolla, Oceanside and Kearny Mesa.

“I’m not a beach guy, I like the city,” says Colantoni. “That’s why I chose Little Italy. It’s a place where you can always count on a good espresso and a great bowl of pasta.”

“Veronica Mars” takes place in the fictional seaside community of Neptune. Colantoni stars as Keith Mars, a private investigator trying to uncover the town’s secrets with the help of his teenage daughter, Veronica. When Veronica’s best friend Lilly is murdered and Mars names Lilly’s father as the prime suspect, Veronica and Mars become outcasts.

Colantoni became familiar with San Diego when he starred as Renfield in the Old Globe’s “Dracula.” When not busy on the set, Colantoni enjoys spending time in Hillcrest or Balboa Park. The Old Globe and NuNu’s are among his favorite haunts.

Although Colantoni says he will one day go back to the theater, he is happy starring in another television series. “I like TV because I’m a blue collar guy,” says Colantoni. “I like going to work every day and I like the grind.”

“Veronica Mars” airs on UPN, Channel 13 on Tuesdays at 9 p.m.
