Five years from now, we’ll be surprised that community banks ...

... We fully expect that community banks will reclaim their share of the San Diego market in spite of all the mergers and sales that occurred during the ’90s. However, we may be surprised to see a number of early local mergers and/or sales which will accelerate the growth of the winners.

What are your hobbies?

Skiing (at Tahoe) and golf (Mt. Woodson). And I like to do things with my family; they like to ski and play golf as well. I’ve also been active with the opera and the symphony. I like classical music.

What keeps you up at night?

The most important factor in doing business is people who build relationships that create significant results. It is a strategic requirement that we continue to attract and retain the best people. This has become an increasing challenge with the large number of new banks, although our solid head start and success have enabled us to continue to hire great people.
