Five years from now, we’ll be surprised that community banks ...
... Have not really changed that much, except for the fact that there have been a lot of new banks started in the last few years that will have to compete with one another in the same marketplace. It may be that not all of them will experience the same kind of success. The cycle of banking will continue with some of the banks growing quite nicely, others growing slowly, while still others will no longer be here, as they will experience the consolidation that always is part of every cycle.
What are your hobbies?
I’m a golfer. I’ve been playing “at it” for 25 years. I’m a member of Bear Creek in Murrieta — it’s the best value out there. That and working are my hobbies.
What keeps you up at night?
The economy is always on (my) mind, along with how to keep customers satisfied and employees happy and focused on the vision of the bank. Also, the task of building and maintaining a quality staff and corporate culture that allows the success and profitability of the bank to continue in order to reward the shareholder/investor base in the future.
