Ryan Gonzales has been riding an economic wave. As the CEO of Peaches en Regalia, a specialty clothing store for men and women in Del Mar Plaza and at Four Seasons Resort Aviara, Gonzales saw sales jump 20 percent in November only to fall in December. “It’s all peaks and valleys,” he says, attributing it to the cycle of the general economy. The Del Mar store gets consistent traffic from repeat customers while the Carlsbad store sees business travelers. “There used to be more guests that would stay longer,” Gonzales says. “And they used to bring their families.” He speculates that today’s business traveler no longer has much of an expense budget but he is optimistic 2004 will bring in more travelers. He’s looking to fill positions and has a business plan that calls for expansion.
