Shop Talk with Jim McPheters

What are your hobbies?

I drive a dune buggy in the desert and travel with a camping group. I’m also looking for a classic muscle car. I work out four days a week.

What keeps you up at night?

I have a tendency to wake up about 3 or 4 in the morning thinking about the prior day’s activities as well as thinking about the day to come and the decisions that need to be made to ensure the credit union is around for another 75 years. A lot of people put a lot of effort into getting us where we are today. I want to be sure not to screw it up.

Five years from now, credit unions will ...

... be bigger, fewer and the only thing keeping the banks’ pricing in check. Without credit unions, the cost of doing financial business will go up exponentially year after year for the American consumer.
