La Jolla’s 18th Festival of the Arts on June 12 and 13, sponsored by Torrey Pines Kiwanis, will benefit more than 30 programs for San Diegans with disabilities. The event will feature musical entertainment, food, a kids’ zone and work of 190 award-winning artists.
The festival is planned from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at La Jolla Country Day School, 9490 Genesee Ave., at the corner of Regents Road and Genesee Avenue. Admission is $8 for adults. Children 12 and under, parking and shuttle service are free.
For the second year, Taylor Guitars is entertainment sponsor and will donate two acoustic-electric guitars for raffle. Taylor also will provide several musical groups on the main stage, including The Eve Selis Band, Tim Flannery’s Traveling Medicine Show Band, Joe Rathburn & David Bedlock, Christopher Dean, Carlos Olmeda and Steve White.
Among this year’s beneficiaries are:
- The Adaptive Sports Association in Durango, Colo., that teaches people with disabilities to ski and participate in outdoor recreation
- Family Karate, an adaptive program to teach disabled children and adults the discipline and sport of karate.
- Paws’itive Teams, provider of service dogs for those with disabilities. For information, see www.pawsteams.org.
