Awards To Be Given, Workshops Are Planned



Days of Dialogue and presentation of the Peacemaker Awards will be sponsored March 25 to 31 by the National Conflict Resolution Center, formerly the San Diego Mediation Center, to encourage problem-solving through discussion.

Presentation of the Peacemaker Awards March 25 at the Hyatt Islandia will launch events. Those being honored are Ronne Froman, CEO, San Diego/Imperial Counties chapter, American Red Cross; Doris Bittar, artist; Chandani Flinn, deputy city attorney; Dr. Michael Sise, trauma services medical director, and Beth Sise, trauma prevention director, Scripps Mercy Hospital.

During the following days through March 31, free conflict resolution workshops, open to the public, will be held for parents and teens, business, the workplace, divorced or divorcing parents, and for select area high schools. New this year will be two workshops in Tijuana in Spanish, for business and the workplace and one for parents and teens. A second parent/teen workshop in Spanish is planned in Chula Vista.

An evening hotline on March 29 at the NBC 7/39 studio will welcome callers needing advice and offer direction from trained mediators.

The schedule follows:

March 25, Peacemaker Awards Dinner, 5:30 p.m., Hyatt Islandia, 1441 Quivira Road. Individual tickets: $110; table of 10: $1,050.

March 26, Tijuana. Location to be announced.

March 29, Parent-Teen Conflict Resolution Workshop: Mission Valley Library, 2123 Fenton Parkway, San Diego, 6-7:30 p.m.

March 29, San Diego Mediation Center, (Spanish) 695 Saturn Blvd., Suite E, San Diego, 6-7:30 p.m.

March 30, Business Improvement District Council, 450 B St., Room 710, San Diego, 8-9:30 a.m.

March 30, Coronado Public Library, 640 Orange Ave., Coronado, 6-7 p.m. and 6-7:30 p.m.

March 30, El Cajon Public Library, 201 E. Douglas, El Cajon, 6-7:30 p.m.

March 31, Family (Divorce) Conflict Resolution Workshops, Wednesday, Atonement Lutheran Church, 7250 Eckstrom Ave., San Diego, 6:30-8 p.m. (Reservations requested).
