Wow. Welcome to the fifth anniversary of the 40 Under Forty special section. San Diego Metropolitan started the awards after realizing the business recognition events mostly honored the old pros who created so much wonder in San Diego. But simpler days are in the past and the landscape for today’s and tomorrow’s leaders is complex. So, with the help of judges independent of the magazine, we set out to honor those mostly unsung individuals. Inside, you will meet Nos. 161 through 200.
This year’s judges are Dr. Abigail Barrow, past director of the UCSD Jacobs School of Engineering; Richard Cloward, manager of charter operations at Jimsair Charter; Scott Barnett, Barnett Consulting; Louise Torio, executive director of Historic San Diego Marketing & Consulting; and Judy Case DiPasquale, executive director of the YWCA of San Diego County. We thank them for their serious deliberations and analysis of a record number of nominations.
