Rosemary Snow

The Douglas Wilson Cos. appointed Rosemary Snow as sales manager for the $155 million mixed-used project The Mark, now under construction in East Village. A veteran of the San Diego real estate market, Snow joined the company three years ago as a sales associate for the Downtown development Parkloft.

Qualcomm Inc. appointed Richard Sulpizio as president for MediaFLO, including MediaFLO USA Inc. and MediaFLO Technologies. Sulpizio was president and COO of Qualcomm from 1998 to 2001. During his 10 years with the company, he also served as president of Qualcomm Wireless Business Solutions and v.p. of information systems. He recently served as interim president of Qualcomm China.

Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton named Domenic Drago, managing partner of the Del Mar Heights office, as the new chair of the firm’s real estate/land use & natural resources/environmental practice group. Bob Rose, based in the San Diego office, was named chair of the white collar crime/civil fraud practice group.

Regina Petty

San Diego litigator Regina Petty joined the board of the national Minority Corporate Counsel Association. An attorney for 22 years, she is a partner with Wilson Petty Kosmo & Turner. She is the only member of the MCCA board that is in private practice and only the second board member in MCCA history that is not corporate counsel.

Former Oceanside Library Director José Aponte was selected director of the County of San Diego Library system, with its 32 branches and two mobile libraries. He has 28 years of library experience.

National architectural firm Ware Malcomb, hired Nathan A. Dean in its San Diego office as project manager in the interiors group. He has seven-plus years of industry experience.

Schwartz Semerdjian Haile Ballard & Cauley elevated Spencer C. Skeen to partner. Skeen is a litigation attorney who joined the firm in 2003. His practice involves commercial, business, real estate, employment litigation and insurance matters.

John Chalker, managing director of San Diego-based LM Capital Group, was appointed to the five-member board of commissioners for the San Diego Public Facilities Financing Authority. Chalker is a founding member and former chairman of the Alliance in Support of Airport Progress in the 21st Century.

Paul Gorman joined GVA IPC as an associate with more than 19 years of real estate sales and marketing experience, specializing in commercial sales. For two years prior to joining GVA IPC, he was employed by Electronic Retail Software in Newport Beach, where he was v.p. of sales and marketing.

Lundstrom + Associates, a civil engineering firm based in San Diego, named Bill Lundstrom an associate. A registered civil engineer, Lundstrom’s emphasis is single-family, multi-family, high-density, infill, and mixed-use projects. He joined the firm full time in 1998. Roland Bartsch also a registered civil engineer, also was named an associate. He has been with Lundstrom + Associates since 1999.

Grubb & Ellis/BRE Commercial named George Gramm as v.p. of client services. Gramm has more than 12 years of related experience including more than 10 years with Grubb & Ellis in Phoenix, which became Grubb & Ellis/BRE Commercial in 2003. Most recently he was senior research and marketing manager.

U.S. Bank named Erica Opstad to head its community development efforts in California and continue to manage San Diego’s community development. She has been with the bank since 1999. The bank hired Steven Dias as a business banking officer in San Diego. Formerly he was with Western Financial. Josephine Bennett, v.p. of commercial banking in San Diego, is in the top 5 percent nationwide honored for excellent performance in 2004.

Rep. Bob Filner named Humberto Peraza as his district chief of staff and Marielena Castellanos as communications director in his 51st Congressional District office. Peraza most recently was area and statewide Latino director for U.S. Sen. Barbara Boxer. Castellanos previously worked for San Diego Mayor Dick Murphy.

Jeffrey Cawdrey, an attorney with more than 20 years of experience in business and bankruptcy law and litigation, joined the San Diego office of Gordon & Rees. He will work with William Rathbone, who moved to Gordon & Rees 11 months ago, in the firm’s growing bankruptcy & business reorganization group. He was previously a partner with Higgs Fletcher & Mack.

Superior Court Judge Bernard E. Revak retires this month after 17 years on the bench. Before his 1987 appointment by Gov. Deukmejian, he was a San Diego deputy district attorney and then a United States attorney.

Robert Griswold of Griswold Real Estate Management and KOGO Radio, Real Estate Today, received the Exceptional Contribution Award given by the San Diego chapter of the Institute of Real Estate Management.

John Burnham Insurance Services hired Iris Gladney as v.p. and marketing manager, and Courtney Lindsay as v.p. of loss control services. Gladney formerly owned Independent Risk and Insurance Services. Lindsay has 14 years of loss control experience, most recently with St. Paul Travelers Insurance Co. serving as its western regional loss control coordinator.

Leap Wireless International Inc. appointed S. Douglas (Doug) Hutcheson as CEO, president and director. Hutcheson most recently was the company’s president and CFO. Prior to that Hutcheson held several positions with Leap, which he joined when it was spun-out from Qualcomm Inc. in September 1998. Leap also named Dean Luvisa as acting CFO and treasurer. Luvisa, most recently v.p. of finance and treasurer, has been with the company since 1998.

The mother-daughter team of Maxine and Marti Gellens of Prudential Realty, La Jolla, posted gross sales of $221 million in 2004, earning them the title of Prudential’s top producer for the 10th consecutive year.

DCI Engineers added Ryan Slaybaugh and Juan Garcia as structural project engineers and Lisa Marshall as a CAD designer, in its San Diego office. Patricia Haulley, a v.p. at GVA IPC, was appointed 2005 president of the Commercial Realtors Association of San Diego, formerly SDCCAR. Haulley succeeds Retail Properties President Joe Balla has been a vice president for GVA IPC since 2001.
