Richard Murdock

Richard Murdock, a senior v.p. at GVA IPC, was appointed 2005 president of the San Diego Certified Commercial Investment Members chapter. He has been in his GVA position since 1991.

John O’Neill, an attorney with Procopio, Cory, Hargreaves & Savitch LLP, was elected president of the San Diego County Taxpayers Association, following a two-year term as v.p. He is chair of the San Diego Downtown YMCA and is pro bono general counsel to the San Diego Humane Society and S.P.C.A.

The West Coast agency of Torre Lazur McCann, formerly known as the BioGenesis Group, appointed Michael Ouimette as president. Ouimette, has 30 years of pharmaceutical marketing experience, 10 of them with Pacific Communications in Irvine.

Leon W. Parma, Ernest S. Rady and Sister Mary Jo Anderson joined the ScrippsHealth board, and attorney Abby Sliverman was re-elected to a second term as chair. Parma is founder and chair of La Jolla Bank & Trust Co. and owns property management and storage businesses. He lives in La Jolla. Rady, also of La Jolla, is founder of American Assets. Sister Mary Jo Anderson is former senior v.p. for hospital operations for ScrippsHealth and former v.p. for Mercy Healthcare in San Diego. Silverman, of La Jolla, will continue as chairman of the ScrippsHealth board for a second one-year term. She joined the board in 2000.

Eddie Wang Rodriguez

Eddie Wang Rodriguez, a principal with Fish & Richardson, assumed the role of practice group leader of the firm’s nationwide corporate and securities group. Rodriguez’s practice focuses on startups and technology companies.

Mary Cunningham, CEO of USA Credit Union, was appointed to the board of Credit Union National Association. She has been active with credit unions for 30 years.

Nanogen Inc. appointed Robert Saltmarsh as CFO. He joined Nanogen in September and has more than 25 years of experience in the high tech industry.

Jack R. Leer and Amanda L. Kramer moved from associates to shareholders at Seltzer Caplan McMahon Vitek. Leer’s specialty is general civil and commercial litigation. Prior to joining the firm, Leer was with the Navy’s Judge Advocate General. Kramer’s practice focuses on family law. Formerly she practiced law in the San Francisco area.

The California Center for the Arts in Escondido appointed Mary-Catherine Ferguson as museum director. Ferguson has been with the Norton Simon Museum, Fototeka and USC’s Fisher Gallery and Moving Images Archives.

George R. Marks was named president and g.m. of RR Industries’ Bioconnect Division. He joined the company last year as a consultant. He had retired in 2000 from Q-Tech Corp. v Morrison & Foerster named Sean T. Prosser and Kimberly S. Greer to the firm’s litigation department. Prosser and Ms. Greer are securities litigators and come to Morrison & Foerster from the San Diego office of Fish & Richardson. Prosser joins as a partner, Greer as of counsel. Prosser is a former SEC enforcement attorney, and Greer practiced securities litigation at Brobeck, Phleger & Harrison for seven years.

Centre City Development Corp. hired two new staff members to keep up with increasing construction activity in the redevelopment area. Sachin Kalbag will serve as senior planner/urban designer, and Nicole Haines will join as an associate project manager. Kalbag was a staff architect/urban designer with the San Jose Redevelopment Agency. Haines worked as a planning and development coordinator in Kalamazoo, Mich.

Real estate company Lipman Stevens & Thene Inc. changed its name to Lipman Stevens & Carpenter Inc. at the same time it promoted Kent J. Carpenter as principal. He joined the company in 2002 and has 16 years of appraisal experience gained mainly working for local banks.

Jet Source named Deborah Shepard to the new position of executive charter sales, expanding aircraft charter services in Southern California. Shepard has worked in the business aviation community for five years, most recently as charter sales and marketing manager for Jimsair of San Diego.

Ferris & Britton hired Besse Koopman and Lee Biddle as associates. Koopman, who was executive editor of the Cal Western Law Review, is a member of the firm’s taxation and business departments. Biddle joins the regulatory and telecommunications department after three years as in-house counsel at the Utility Consumers’ Action Network.

The Willis Allen Co. named Leslie Kilpatrick as manager of its Coronado office. She has worked in residential and commercial leasing and in construction as project manager for construction sites. Newly hired by the company is real estate agent Carol J. Gray, a longtime Del Mar resident.

Coldwell Banker Commercial named Richard Delpozo broker associate for its Towne Centre location. He was a sales associate for Coldwell Banker Commercial-Mid City Properties before moving to Coldwell Banker NRT in San Diego, where he gained experience as a broker associate. Hired in the same office as a sales associate was Matthew Carlson, who made a career change after training for the 2000 Olympics and coaching the freshmen men’s rowing team at Rutgers University.

ERA Alliance Realty added Steven Burbidge to its sales real estate team for North County Coastal and North County Inland areas. Burbidge joined the ERA Team after a career as a management and technology consultant.

Jean Young was presented the Ethel M. Siegelman Memorial Award for meritorious service by the San Diego chapter of the American Society of Interior Designers. Young has been a professional interior designer for more than 30 years, and she started Young + Co. Inc. in 1981. The award is named for ASID San Diego’s first president. The Deborah L. Thomas Memorial Award for Outstanding Student leader was presented to Suzie Anderson at SDSU, and the Don Marrell Industry Partner of the Year Award for Outstanding Service was presented to Michael Napier of Outrageous Rugs.

TEC International, the world’s largest membership of chief executives, promoted Kristy Cornell from manager of new group starts to director. She started with TEC in May of 2004 after serving as director of operations for Mosaic Sales Solutions.

Courtney L. Bunt and Gabriela Salazar joined Cozen O’Connor’s San Diego office as an associate in the firm’s subrogation and recovery department. Bunt formerly worked as a law clerk for the San Diego District Attorney’s Office. Salazar was a law clerk for the Legal Aid Society of San Diego, Consumer Law Unit. Salazar is admitted to practice in California.

Oceanside’s Parks and Recreation Director Ana M. Alvarez took a position as Community Services Director overseeing several departments for the City of Santa Fe Springs in Los Angeles County. She started in Oceanside in 2001 and was promoted to director in 2002.

The business litigation firm of Wilson Petty Kosmo & Turner added associates Dennis Raglin and Tracy Warren. Raglin, experienced in product liability law, was previously with a San Francisco firm. Warren, experienced in labor and employment, was previously with Luce Forward in San Diego.
