A part-time job in college changed Jill Faucher’s career forever. While earning a public administration degree from SDSU, she worked as a teller for San Diego Trust & Savings Bank. “I loved it,” says Faucher, 35. “Banks are like big families and the people are very friendly. I especially enjoy the analysis side of banking.”
She became a marketing specialist for San Diego Trust & Savings in 1989. In 1994, she joined Union Bank, where she is now vice president/manager of international consulting. She develops strategic initiatives for the bank, analyzes and implements initiatives impacting more than 300 branches throughout Southern California and serves on the senior management team.
“My job is so great because I do many different things,” she says. “I’m one of those people who can multitask, stay organized and follow through, so it’s a good fit for me.”
Her part-time position allows her to spend time in her Point Loma home with her two young children. “I’m the only v.p. who works part time and the first to telecommute,” she says. “I like that Union Bank is so flexible and family-oriented. The bank values the input of women on its management team.”
Faucher is involved in the Thursday Club, the Junior League of San Diego and serves on the board for the San Diego chapter of the Huntington’s Disease Society of America. She brings the same skills to these organizations as she does to her career. “In a business setting, you’re expected to use those skills,” she says. “In a nonprofit setting, it’s appreciated even more. But I love doing it because I feel I can make a difference.”
