Jacqueline Ibrahim Is All About Service

Her work, volunteer and play times
blend together in global concerns

< Rebecca Haddock | Steve Iverson >

What she calls a “quality of life shift” four years ago brought Jacqueline A. Ibrahim and many extended family members to San Diego County. Settled in Carlsbad, Ibrahim has continued doing what she has done most of her life: “I’m about service,” she says, “to community and people.”

She began a financial career during years of employment with Wells Fargo Bank, but shifted to education as her interests became clearer to her. Most of her pursuits tend to focus on global improvement, with particular emphasis on the needs of women and children.

As a co-founder of AiPhilanthropy for Positive Change, Ibrahim, 37, strives “to amplify the work of other not-for-profits.” For example, she might consult with a small company, perhaps a U.S.-Mexican concern in this area, to identify its resources and ways of improving the business while enriching the community.

The same theme underlies Ibrahim’s work on several boards. “Education was regarded deeply” by her immigrant upstate New York parents who had six children. It still is for Ibrahim, a board member at CSU San Marcos, and an adjunct faculty member for UC Berkeley, where she earned her undergraduate degree; University of Phoenix, where she received her MBA and doctorate degrees; and Wharton College.

The San Diego-Imperial Council Girl Scouts also benefits from Ibrahim’s efforts, both as a board member and as a hands-on troop leader for her daughter Nicole, 12.

Scouting activities work well for the entire Ibrahim family, which includes other children Tony, 10 and Sofia, 3. We are “outdoorsy,” Ibrahim says. “We travel regularly, we are at the beach often and we swim and hike.”

Both she and her husband of 15 years, Ash Ibrahim, teach Sunday school at St. Demiana Coptic Orthodox Church in Solana Beach.
