Law Week Schedule



The following seminars and events are planned during Law Week, the first week in May. Other programs or details will be announced as they are finalized.

Tuesday, May 2: Mock trial at Bankruptcy Court in the U.S. Courthouse, 325 W. F St., Downtown. For fourth graders from Sunnyside Elementary School in the Chula Vista District.

Wednesday, May 3: Ask-A-Lawyer. Volunteer lawyers will field questions at KNSD NBC 7/39 from 5 to 8 a.m. The telephone number will be shown during the morning news from 5-7 a.m.

Also Wednesday: Youth Day in Court, with 130 students from three high schools meeting in Presiding Department of San Diego Superior Court to view a trial, then have lunch in the conference room; and in the afternoon have a mock trial.

Thursday, May 4: Family Law Facilitator Programs at four courthouses in the county from 8 a.m.–5 p.m. Volunteers will take two-hour shifts and answer questions.

Also Thursday: Cocktail Reception for Bar members only at Stingaree, 22,000 square feet on three levels in a historic warehouse at Sixth and Island, in the Gaslamp Quarter.

Friday, May 5: Law Week Luncheon, noon-2 p.m. at the Bar Center, 1333 Seventh Ave., Downtown. Awards will be presented to outstanding attorney and judge of the year and to winning students in poster, essay and oratorical competitions.

Saturday, May 6: Free Law at Kobey’s. Volunteer lawyers will work two-hour shifts from 7 a.m.-3 p.m. at Kobey’s Swap Meet at San Diego Sports Arena.

Saturday and Sunday, May 6 & 7: Bar members will staff tables at La Mesa Guitar Center, 8825 Murray Drive, and at a to-be-announced Downtown bookstore, to give general information about contracts, copyrights, trademarks and other information of interest to artists, writers and musicians.
