Residential developers are busy at work building 23 projects that will add 3,904 units to the marketplace this year. Scheduled to break ground this year, if all goes well, are another 34 projects totaling 7,142 units.
The high cost of construction materials, increasing building fees and slowing of the market are making this year unpredictable. Some developers are hesitating to keep up their exhausting pace of the last five years. As the speculator buyer has left the market, so has the speculator builder. For those who know what they are doing and planned ahead, locking in prices and paying early fees, the projects continue.
