Shop Talk Q &A With
Home Bank’s Founder Byron Webb

What are your hobbies or relaxations?

Spending time with family and friends.

Did you ever have a good relationship with a supervisor?

I was fortunate when I started with the bank in Los Angeles that became Security Pacific. I had my MBA from the University of Michigan, and my boss was Carl Hartnack. He ran the first credit workshop at the bank. Then Hartnack came to San Diego and brought me down here. So I felt fortunate to have him as my boss.

Five years from now, community banks will…

….still fill a niche but we’re getting competition by the growing credit unions who pay no taxes. It’s not a level playing field.

What keeps you up at night?

I have no stress to keep me up.
