Entropic Communications has promoted Tim Pappas to vice president of operations. Pappas joined the company, which develops networking for home digital entertainment, as director of product and test engineering, and was promoted to director of operations two years ago. Pappas will manage Entropic’s global supply chain, quality and reliability efforts, and product testing and engineering.
Before joining Entropic, Pappas managed the product engineering group for Mindspeed Technologies, a chip vendor for telecommunications. He has a bachelor’s in electrical engineering from San Diego State University and more than 20 years’ experience in semiconductor product and test engineering.
Entropic’s technology leverages existing coaxial cable infrastructure to link all the televisions and electronics in a home. The company shipped its 1 millionth chipset in May after being in production for less than 18 months. Entropic Chief Executive Patrick Henry believes the home networking market is in the very early stages of “explosive” opportunity.
