Life is much more than work for Ken Corbit, vice president of sales and marketing at Z57, which develops Internet marketing services for Realtors. Life is family and social obligation.
Corbit believes one way to change society for the better is to be a part of it. With his wife, Penny, son Casey and daughter Chelsea, he regularly volunteers with the San Diego Meals-on-Wheels program. In addition to delivering weekly meals to seniors, the family has adopted several of them and has celebrated birthdays and helped work in their gardens.
“I am most proud of being a father,” he says. “I have an amazing 15-year-old and 13-year old. They are best friends and I cherish the time we spend together.”
A few years ago Corbit began running for exercise. Now he is running marathons and mentoring others. Corbit and his son ran in the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon for the Leukemia Society with others inspired by Corbit. Another cause Corbit supports is the Free Wheelchair Mission, founded to provide mobility to the physically disabled. More than 133,000 wheelchairs made of plastic white lawn chairs, mountain bike wheels and castors have been delivered around the world.
Before Corbit joined Z57, the family took a one-year sabbatical to Bogota, Colombia, sponsored by their Community Fellowship Church in Jonesboro, Ark. The goal was to build an orphanage and pediatric care facility. Corbit is still involved in this ongoing effort.
