Kim Julin Guyader, 33, believes women can have the best of both worlds: career and family. She believes she has both right now.
Two years ago, she and her business partner, Jamie Sigler, opened J Public Relations. Then 16 months ago, she and her husband, Hank, welcomed their first child, a daughter named Riley. She says both endeavors have been total successes.
As for the agency, “We were taken by surprise at how quickly it took off,” she says.”We both had been with other firms, and we focused on what we did best, what we were most passionate about and what we liked doing.”
J PR works mainly with hospitality industry clients, including restaurants, travel/tourism concerns, design and consumer areas. After just two years, the firm has added two more employees and will soon hire a fifth. In addition to a rapidly growing client list, the firm does some volunteer work for Mama’s Kitchen and the Toussaint Teen Acdemy, a San Diego teen live-in program related to Father Joe Carroll’s organizations.
As far as family is concerned, Guyader says, “Off time is totally focused on Riley, going for walks, going to the beach.” She calls their timing perfect. “Many of our friends have children, and they are so much fun to watch.”
The family lives with three cats in Scripps Ranch, but they are looking for a home in Point Loma or north Pacific Beach.

Isn't she divorced now? So I guess you really can't have both worlds.
