As part of its acquisition of Landmark National Bank, 1st Pacific Bancorp is appointing to both its corporate and bank boards Landmark directors Ron Carlson and Chris McKellar. James Knight, 1st Pacific’s chair, says Carlson and McKellar bring intimate knowledge of Landmark’s business and culture. “We anticipate that their expertise will help guide a successful transition and integration of Landmark’s management and operations,” Knight says. The deal should be finalized late this quarter or early in the third.
Carlson, a former chair and CEO of Landmark, is a 44-year veteran of San Diego’s banking business. Among the lenders he has run are Scripps Bank, Bank of Rancho Bernardo and La Jolla Bank & Trust. McKellar is president of Capella, a real estate development company. Since beginning his real estate career in 1971 he has managed the acquisition, entitlement, financing, design, construction and marketing of more than 5,000 homes, 1,600 apartment units, 3.4 million square feet of commercial office, research and development, and industrial space. McKellar was a founder of both Legacy and Scripps banks.

Von Buttlar, who joined City National last year from Wells Fargo Private Client Services, has 22 years of finance experience. Bob Adkins, president and CEO of Neighborhood National Bank, has been elected president of the San Diego Blood Bank’s board. Adkins has been a Blood Bank director since 2002. He joined Neighborhood National Bank in 2001. As the only African-American commercial bank president in San Diego County, the new position accords Adkins the honor as the first “blood” bank president to be the Blood Bank president.
