Celebrating A Centennial
With An Eye On Infrastructure

< Jason Hughes | Tony Pauker >

Casey Gwinn

In his first full year as CEO of the YWCA, Casey Gwinn will spearhead efforts to rebuild the agency’s aging Downtown headquarters and to celebrate its 100th anniversary of serving women, children and families in San Diego County.

“My primary focus is to create a plan that will redevelop the YWCA’s building and surrounding block between 10th and 11th and B and C streets to create a beacon of hope for women, children and families,” Gwinn says. “The YW was built in 1926 and needs a great deal of love and care.”

This means Gwinn will most likely be immersed in event planning and fundraising to raise the profile of the YW and its programs. As Gwinn says, “The timing is perfect to celebrate the past and create a vision for the future, so that’s what I’ll be doing this year — dreaming and fundraising.”
